I agree with Lee, in that it shouldn't have to be done but if you want to.....

From the repair manual and you need to remove the bumper cover.

Headlamps can be properly covered with PPF without any removal, it is Not required to remove them at all.

I remember when you just reached in, twist, pull and replace a cheap bulb. Is that all one unit or are the lamps replaceable? If a headlight/day runner goes is that the procedure?

It was $160 to reply a bulb in my Acura TSX. I did it once myself and understand why. Had to also remove the entire front bumper assembly. One of the first things I asked when I picked up my MME was the cost of bulb replacement (wanted to get the shock out of the way). The sales guys had to guess (vehicle was too new to them) but estimated $1K for both. That might be a bit egregious but knowing dealership service costs maybe not.

I would not remove the headlights if you don't have to.

Yep for the last 12 years I have been taking off the grill of GMC's (pretty much the same thing as the MME) to pull the drivers side light out so you can twist and replace. I look at it as a dealer perk. Can't really call it good engineering. I have not found a headlight that lasts forever yet.

Is the MME a sealed unit with one power cable? It could be pricey.

Yes the Mach-E headlamps are one sealed unit. All bulbs are LED and non-replaceable. There is an LED control module that is replaceable within the unit but the headlamp assembly must be removed to replace it.

As an example, the part number for the right headlamp on a Select with standard LED lighting is LJ8Z-13008-B and a left headlamp on a Premium and GT with projector LED lighting is LJ8Z-13008-J. Both retail for about $1600 at your Ford dealer, however you can get them online at many discount dealers (I use Tascaparts) for about $1100. On e-Bay they go for around $500 used. For those who plan on keeping their cars longer than the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, it might be a good idea to purchase an extended warranty.

Took the 8 years on this one just before a year was over as it became obvious to me. I am done with headlights at this stage. With the GMC's I started to replace with LED when the tech became available. The heat sink not the fan type. That was the last time for them in my ownership. It is the driver (control) that goes in them most of the time with me. LED should last awhile?

From the diagrams above it looks like one assembly. Headlights are getting smarter too which absolutely means more expensive repairs and replacements. Will be a while until after market parts and right to repair makes it cheaper I'd imagine.
