Newb here. Can someone please decode the acronym HVBJB? I've searched the web and can't find out what all those letters stand for. Thank you.

So to elaborate on the OPs original question. What does the HVBJB do?

Does it transfer the energy stored in the high voltage batteries to the motors only or is it responsible for other things as well?

BTW: It doesn't come up as much in searches, but the '23 models all have updated HVBJB which are not faulty from the factory. If you are buying a used MachE, you either want one that's been replaced, or likely there are runs from late '22 with the updated part.

I bought a '23 after reading all the HVBJB problems.

Speak to @mjkeen51 who had a bad HVBJB after about 500 miles.

I sure hope you’re right about 23’s not having problems but there are more reports of 21’s with replaced HVBJB‘s going bad. Why?

Biggest suggestion is don’t drive over the Grapevine somewhere in Ca., seems to destroy a number of HVBJB’s

I myself haven’t had one break. Many people on this forum say % of one breaking is small so don’t fret about it.

I wouldn’t fret like others have said, but there are plenty of 2023s with the same issue, including mine. It’s really the GT and GTPE that are worrisome, everyone else should be more or less fine imo.

Noooooooooo, please don’t, and don’t worry about it!

If you wake in the morning, it’s raining and you tell yourself you’re going to have a bad day, you will have a bad day!!

What it does? Connects and isolates the high voltage battery to & from all the circuits for the HV systems such as port charging, aircon compressor, E-heater, motors, DC/DC converter (12v charger) etc using the 12v system to operate it, think of it as a large electrical switch - a relay.

It’s also part of and is operated by the interlock system and isolates the HV battery when required to do so in the event of a problem likely to be a risk to safety.

Extremely unlikely you’ll ever have a problem with yours.

Enjoy the ‘Stang experience, worry about worries when you have worries to worry about, if you follow me?

I am retired, I am done worrying. I don't lose any sleep but I must say every time I take a long trip and DCFC I do wonder if this will be the time.

all they have to do is fix the damn thing but they don’t know how. I understand electronics will go bad but. Let’s see what happens over the next year.

to tell you the truth, I don’t care what it does. I just want it to work.

if a GTPE is more likely to go bust that’s a crying shame because why else do you buy one other than to hit it every now and then.

I do enjoy the car and all cars have issues but this is a problem that will most likely continue for a while and needs to be fixed.

Please don’t tell me it’s like a tire, I can get that plugged or changed. If it’s raining outside and I am going to the beach I just don’t go, no big deal or I take an umbrella out And do something else.

if I get stranded somewhere no where near a Ford dealership that understands the MME that’s a real hassle.

anyway, everyone should enjoy the car as they deem appropriate. I just came from a 500 mile round trip vacation, other than some charging hiccups no issues.

let’s hope that continues.

enjoy the car

That's what people believes but not the reality.

This is one of my biggest pet-peeves about this forum. Where do those people supposedly get their data? The answer - they don't. They make up claims to push their agendas or because they own stock in Ford or some other strange reason. It's like they are married to Ford and ignore all actual data.

In the height of all of this, about 11 months ago, two of us were helping Ford diagnose, triage and assist with the process of getting people who had HVBJB failure back on the road. I kept track of some of that data which is located here. The data was just forum members, nothing more. So if we have 60 failures in the month of September and the forum is representative of 20% of owners (make it whatever number you want, but I doubt 20% of owners are on this forum) then extrapolate that out. If it's 20% then that's 300 failures in a month when they sold 1500 MME's. The reality is that it's not 3-5%, especially with GTs, as some people allege. Those are just numbers they are pulling out of their ass.

Only Ford knows the real numbers. However, based on my personal involvement it's not a small number of failures. All but 1 person who I know personally that owns a GT MachE has had failure. Some have had multiple. I would go with the data, not with what some random forum members who have strange fantasies about Ford.
