I had parked in a spot with enough space behind me but there was a small post near the side walk. Some one parked too close in front of me but apparently because of the pole, the car would not reverse. I put the car in reverse and it went forward. Unfortunately I didn't have enough space to try to resolve the problem without hitting the other vehicle. Although I was stuck, fortunately the other driver returned and I was able to pull out forward.

Yeah, that happens sometimes. Not often. Shifting to P and back fixes it. There's also been talk of its being fixed with software or hardware changes.
I’ve never heard of this happening before now. Somehow, I suspect ford would prioritize it before the upcoming FordPass frunk release if this was a thing since it would likely be a government safety concern.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. I was in drive and heading down a relatively steep (maybe 30 deg.) driveway. While the car was in drive the rear view camera came on and when I took my foot off the brake pedal the car started to slowly creep in reverse. Fortunately I noticed, but I assume that if I had hit the accelerator to move into traffic, I would have shot backwards into the car behind me. I double checked that both the dash and center gear selector were in D. I turned it to P and then back to D and the issue resolved. But @Ford Motor Company this is an unacceptable safety hazard and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Yeah people need to clarify the hill situation when they make these claims. If I stop on a steep hill the car may roll back a foot or two until the brakes engage in 1PD. An automatic transmission vehicle would do the same on an incline if I didn’t press the gas enough to overcome gravity.

I experienced it last week. First time in the two years of ownership. Lucky I am a slow backer...

Both of those involved hills.

Which makes me think that what those people were experiencing is called “gravity.”

But if it’s flat and definitely in the right gear selection, take it to the dealership.

I can assure you it was not gravity. My car started creeping backwards up an incline while I was in drive waiting to pull out onto a street.

Then people need to do what I do whenever my car acts odd.

Take a video, then take the car to the dealership.

Nearly impossible to get anything fixed without proof. And everyone has a video camera (phone) on their person at all times.

It’s like dozens of people claiming to see the same UFO and no one thinks to film it?

Or better yet, submit feedback with the new voice feedback feature and describe exactly what happened. That sends a snippet of data along with the voice note directly to Ford

I’ve experienced this myself but only in situations with hills (or even the slightest incline). I don’t think the car is really going in reverse though. It’s just that when you put your foot on the accelerator pedal it goes into a “releasing the clutch” state where potentially gravity is still overpowering the forward torque you are applying to the accelerator.

The most common situation for me is where I very very gently roll into a stop on an incline where my foot is still ever so slightly on the accelerator. To stop the rollback I just lift my foot completely off the accelerator. I used to drive manual so this is a familiar feeling for me.
