I saw the mythical "centered speedometer" for the first time.

I'm in my second month of Mach E ownership. Have noticed the frequent "I wish the speedometer was centered" posts here but it really doesn't bother me to have it offset.

This week I activated a FDRS subscription and did some software updates. Part of the process went wrong on the first day and I quit for the night. The next day when I went out to drive I was greeted by this.

Completing the FDRS updates restored the "non-centered" behavior, but it was nice getting to see these.

I enjoyed having these screens temporarily, not simply because the speedometer was centered, but because the different animations made the three driving modes feel more distinct from each other. Later in the day, after I completed the updates, the screens went back to "normal".

Someone spent some time programming these animations and I appreciate their work. Too bad they aren't enabled in general anymore.

To get that screen the Distance Indicator and the Lane Centering must be off but at the next key cycle it resets to "normal".

Different for you in Italy. In the USA it's a bug. You also have mandatory lane assist enabled on every key cycle, here it will stay off.

Test drove a 2024 Rally at the Electify Expo in Denver. It had the driving animations. Seems strange that they are gone from cars that had them but there on new cars.

Oh that explains why the damn Mokka I had kept doing that. I thought i was losing my mind looking for a way to turn it and the speed sign warning off.

Yes - it was introduced in 6.8.0 - there are a fair number of threads here about folks being unhappy about this with a mix of "this is fine" and "this sucks" sentiments in them.

It would also have to be newer than the more recently released 24-PU-CLS-CFG.

Or it's just that the Rally you drove had IPC firmware from before 6.8.0.

The 2024 models likely have something fixed in them that has yet to be sent out to the lower models.. or maybe they received builds that never had the apparent bug in the first place. Either way, it is known that the 2024 model year doesn't have this particular problem, yeah.

It just seems to me to be working as designed. If they are going to revert the change to go back to animations and the ability to center the speedometer, I’m all for it.
