I'd like a 'data-only' Map update

I have android phone. sure, I can use my phone, and NOT update Ford Nav. It's just a PIA that @fordmakes you pay for map updates

You do realize that Ford has to build and maintain an infrastructure to develop and provide those updates, right? Last I checked, Ford isn’t a charity.

I would like a 'data-only' Map update... just the new streets... hopefully free.

Just curious - do you get a lot of new streets in Santa Fe? After 400 years, I'd have figured they're pretty much done by now.

Many of us payed over 60 000 dollars for the car, it’s not charity to ask for basic functionality such as updated maps …. Most of my country has not received map updates for over a year, and in my area a two year old and BIG living area change is still not visible in the NAV.

Again, 60 000 dollars and continuous service costs should well cover some simple functionality that many companies gives out for free. The Avarage lifespan of vehicles in Europa is way below 20 years, it won’t be astronomical costs for Ford to better update their maps.

Alternatively, Ford could stop being consumers hostile by not locking the precondition feature behind the NAV. That way all of us would instead use the free and better alternatives while Ford could forget about trying to maintain the maps, yet, we are in a sort of hate-relationship where we in cold climates are forced to use a inferior solution to get normal charging speeds. (You cannot precondition in any other way than navigating with the built in NAV).

I don't think navigation subscription prices are suddenly free based on how expensive the model/trim is.

I switched over to using AndroidAuto nav 'most of the time', and it seems to have up-to-date map data pulled from the phone without any connected services subscription.... So, I'm good for now.
