I’m saying that’s a potential future if we let Chinese EVs into the US market.

Our EV market is hanging on by a thread at the moment and the path to profitability is a rough road ahead.

We need these companies to make money if we want them to continue to build products.
Well, I’m trying to figure out what California is going to do because they need to get moving nine years will be on top of them in no time if they’re talking about no more gas cars for sale!

I think that requiring Chinese companies to build EVs in the US with US labor is a better solution to tariffs which are bad for both sides. Tariffs are just a short term solution which will still lead to US manufacturers losing out in the long run.

It is still just as crazy today as it was when they passed that law.

Probably. Tariffs are just a stop gap.

We also know the unions strongly influence politics on this particular subject.

Just curious, how reliable BMW is I know my Z3 I bought when I lived in North Carolina. It was made in Spartanburg South Carolina, and they drove that from the plant to my house and delivered it. If the BMW is made in the United States, I’m just curious how good of car that is. I know the ICE version we always say if you want electrical problems by a BMW if you want mechanical problems by a Mercedes, I don’t know it was just something we always used to say, most times it was true

I don’t know if China has a better handle on the electric car world. I know that just from being around other types of manufacturers in my life, like for instance, big dog motorcycles, something is simple as a basic chopper with 105 cubic inch four stroke motor they had such electrical problems. They had to hire somebody from NASA to help them figure out their electrical problems and that was just on a motorcycle with not a lot of electrical parts on that one. It was more like a chopper. And we always used to play a game riding down the road count how many cars have one headlight or missing a light and it was always a Chevy and when I saw Chevy started building electric vehicles I’m like I don’t think I could ever own a GM product that is electric For some reason Camaro Corvette they’ve had nothing but electrical problems

Elmo was right about one thing - if BYD could enter the US market without tariffs, they'd eat the competition alive. Not so much with this $150k beast, but with their mainstream offerings that are excellent.
Are you sure? Right now people are paying > $100k for a stainless steel doorstop with piss poor range just for the social media cred.
