I’m not saying that there are no other problems. But the specific problem AlanJ mentioned experiencing with iOS 17 is an iOS glitch and will be resolved in an update.

I've only started seeing it after installing iOS 17 beta. Still saw it happening yesterday on build 21A329.

I'll throw my hat into the Ring of Speculation and say it's Apple - seems logical that the IC, as a display, is showing the information it's been sent by iOS. What other source would be sending the IC incorrect directions? CarPlay is streaming data to the IC - seems near impossible to me that Sync is making sh*t up

Then I will ask again why those with Android are seeing it, too?

Good question! Not being an Android guy I was under the impression CarPlay was the only software integrated with the IC (other than Sync of course).

So the same thing happens with Android & Google Maps?

I may respectfully change my answer :)

Hey everyone,

Just want to give a heads up to everyone since iOS 17 is launching on Monday that there is a known issue with directions now appearing correctly in your instrument cluster. In the iOS 17 Release Candidate notes, it stated this issue was resolved, however it is still occurring and a feedback / bug report is open. (FB13169687)

Apple has less than 10 reports of the issue so far, but does have the ticket open.

If anyone is currently on iOS 17 beta, and has this issue (Which has been the case through most the beta process) You should make a report so that it elevates the priority.

You will notice that it will show "connected road" instead of the street name, or show the totally incorrect information for your current navigational move.

So if you see this issue after updating on Monday, just know Apple is aware, and it is a bug in iOS, NOT your vehicle.
Ok reported as well!

Essentially what happens is iOS supplies meta data to the IC for the IC to display the next movement. This meta data is incorrect in iOS 17 or gets ahead.

For those saying Android has the “issue” too. Sure that may be the case but it is not a reproducible issue and more of a random one That Doesn’t occur every single time. There is a big difference here. Those are also likely Android meta data error or cache error, not the vehicle. Restart the device to resolve those issues. However on iOS 17, troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue and you can reproduce the problem every drive. (I have so far.)

Also the app you use on iOS wont matter since the apps hand data to iOS before iOS sends to the vehicle. That’s how IOS is setup to operate so that APIs are in Apples control.

thanks to those who are also reporting it in Radar, that will help the teams get it prioritized.

Is this bug still present in the release version that just came out?

Do we report it in Feedback Assistant or is there a better way?

It was present sporadically for me today in the release version. I went for 3 different drives, each around 5-10 miles round trip. Used Apple Maps all 3 times, and on surface streets I sometimes got "connected road" while other times I got mostly accurate, normal information. Even on the same, uninterrupted navigation route I'd got both scenarios.

On the freeway, however, it seemed to be completely accurate except when entering from the onramp. Instead of the usual "continue on CA 1" that it used to show, referring to the merge into the highway lanes, it would give me the name of the exit I'd be taking several miles ahead, even if there was an interchange before that exit. Perhaps this is intentional so you know which exit to watch out for? But it seems premature to be giving that info on the onramp, only to revert back to the actual next turn instruction once completely on the freeway.

They are trying to stick with us in solidarity because while some of us have blue bubbles and some green, we all have Mach-Es.

My observations:
  • Connected Road mostly shows for me when the road is an on/off ramp.
  • Other times, screen reset (hold track> and Vol- on wheel) fixes.
  • Started with iOS 17 beta. Strange to hear android seeing this too.

Definitely out of sequence. The Road showing the "Right" turn is several after the "Left" turn

I have this also but in addition the IPC seems locked with the wrong direction . Not all the time though, just when it wants to.
