iPhone ringer volume too loud

Can anyone help?
iPhone rings and blows out your ear drums when connected with car play.
Sure turning the dial lowers the volume when it ring but not before it jolts you out of the seat

I would expect it to stay at the volume you lowered it to for the next ring and beyond.

have someone intentionally call you while it's connected to carplay and start lowering the volume with the switch on the steering wheel. afaik there's no way to specifically pick out whether to lower phone vs music volume. this will also lower the gps speech volume.

It is loud. As the OP said, even if I have the volume for the radio set to a lower level, a call that comes in is so loud I'm blown away. It maybe an Car Play thing that Apple may have to resolve.

Experience the same thing, unfortunately the volume level does not stick. Reported it is an IOS Carplay problem, hopefully it will get fixed soonish.

Same thing in my last car, but changing the volume while Siri is speaking or the phone is ringing did stick. I haven't tried it on the MME since I don't get a lot of calls.

The one CarPlay thing that is annoying though is if I ask Siri for directions, she cuts off the music (expected) and then I have to manually hit the radio button on screen to get it back (unexpected). This only happens with directions. Calls and text reading will turn the radio back on.
