Is Ford Pausing Ordering?

I called my local dealer and asked what the best path was to start an order with a deposit. The sales rep told me to start on ford.com and then contact them to officially place the order. The rep then told me Ford is currently not allowing orders at this time as there’s a backlog. He said I can start the order online but will have to wait a while for his manager to officially submit it. Has anybody else heard this? Was the sales rep confused?

Why not go online and try it? If you want one that's the way to custom order it. If you're looking for inventory go onto ford.com, edmunds.com and cars.com and search around LA and you should find quite a few in stock. Edmunds shows 21 new and 30 used within a 100 mile radius.

Could they be referring to the order submission process based on allocations? I "submitted" my order with the dealer on 11/30 and they accepted it the same day. It took Ford about 2 weeks to "confirm" and actually allow the order to be placed with them. I got my confirmation email last week some time.

That could be it. The rep said Ford is not allowing them to submit new orders, but he could be confused.
