Is the Frunk divider necessary?

Ford didn’t somehow think it was necessary, it was a very real regulatory limitation. A job 1 car couldn’t have sold in the USA without those dividers.

I’m happy to read you keep paper towels and glass cleaner in the trunk. I’m wondering what other stuff people keep in their frunk - for out-on-the road emergencies. I seem to recall some owners keep a certain size screwdriver or wrench for minor repairs?

I use the frunk for my soft sided cooler for drinks and beer. It fits perfectly in the frunk.
I you put your beverages and cover them with ice, is another way of using it as a cooler but remember the ice will melt completely overnight. It is a nice cooler for 3-4 hours.

That’s because the emergency escape button in the frunk works now. It didn’t when the MME first went on sale, so the dividers were necessary to ensure a child couldn’t fit in the frunk.

I don't want to be rude. I have a Job1 MME.
In order to close the frunk, I have to slam it closed. A child couldn't do that from the inside. The frunk cover is on spring/air loaded actuators. The cover will not fall, unless someone pushes it down.
But.....weird things happen and manufacturers don't need that liability.
A $1 dividers absolves them of that problem.

It’s not entirely about someone accidentally locking themselves in the frunk. It’s about someone being locked in against their will, so they have a means of escape.

The gov’t agencies don’t take things like a child not being able to close the lid into consideration because from their point of view a person could get trapped in other fashions. One scenario revolves around someone emptying the cavity, a child crawling in there, and then a person not noticing the child closing the lid. The government agency (sorry, I do not remember which one) simply told Ford that Ford needed to prevent this from happening because the government agency didn’t like something about the iteration of Ford’s software that was submitted. Ford’s solution was to reduce the size of the cavity by splitting it into 4 parts. Once Ford put together code that the agency fully approved, Ford was free to delete the divider, which they did with 2021 Job2 and later cars. ?‍?

Try adjusting the two black rubber stoppers that screw in and out a bit. IIRC, I did about 1 1/2 turns in and the hood hasn’t been hard to close ever since. Just keep track of the direction and how many turns you adjust it in case you turn it the wrong way.

I finally used my Frunk for something, the first time since I've owned the car - hiding a birthday present for a grandson and opening the Frunk for a fun reveal. The size of the thing (a hoverboard) made me remove the Frunk divider so it would fit.

So my question for the forum brain is should I put it back in? Is it useful for anythng other than keeping loads from shifting around while driving? If I never use the Frunk for carrying loads is there any other purpose to it?

Took mine out the first day. After the first year I put it in the recycle bin.

I took mine out but still have in my "car stuff" storage cabinet in my garage (along with the carpeted floor mats.)

I suppose its for when I take it to vintage car shows and want to impress that it has all its original equipment. ? No telling what those will go for someday.

Some of this lot……specifically for the froot, a gallon petrol, gallon diesel, oils, grease, brake fluid, brake cleaner, polish, cloths, puncture repair kit, tyre inflator, hand cleansing equipment, paper roll, fist aid kit and defibrillator!

My 2023 Premium has two slots in the upper rear area of the frunk. I always wondered what those were for. Almost as if designed to allow different accessories to use them. Are the left over from this divider era? Is there another reason?

No, that’s new. You have a different frunk tub than the 2021 and 2022 cars do. The two slots are for accessory mounts, like cup holders. I believe the Maverick (I might be wrong on that, maybe a different model) has a similar slot or two for the same accessories. ??
