Thanks for that explanation. My MME has actually done this a few times. I thought at first "I must have bumped the light knob on my way out the car" then after the third time its happened I was like no way I did anything. I've caught it each time thankfully, and simply move the knob back to Auto and it resolves it. Good to know there (will be) a replacement switch to resolve this issue.
I have the lights on our car set to the minimum possible time to remain on in the settings. No clue if that genuinely works but I think it does so I’m happy. Ignorance is bliss. ;)

For me, this feature would be wasted for public parking, I can't imagine being in this situation. But it would be nice to pull into a tight garage for those with this issue.
Garages are a great use case here, but also I would add it would be useful at Airport parking lots. I also park away from others because *people* but even when I do at the airport, it's always my luck the lot becomes full and parking is real tight.

"Summon" would be a great feature to have for sure, but I don't know if the current hardware can actually support the added feature? Depends on if the module can handle it on top of everything else it has to have. Has anyone ever taken the module apart down to the chip level to see what the hardware specs themselves are?

My 22 has the prep kit, and I don't think I will add park assist unless they do bring some sort of summon feature to it. That would give me the value id be willing to pay for.

Meaning they were built without the module so we are waiting not only on a chip but also the module? OR "kit" meaning there is no "kit" aka chip to be installed by the dealers yet? Did the 2021 models have it? I recall a YouTube video from a dealer (in Canada if I recall) showing it off.
21 models do have it,I have it in my 21 select it’s too slow thou so I don’t use it

Thanks all for the replies!

I doubt I’d use it much myself but with all the other tech in this car, and the fact it was supposed to be there I was curious.

My brother had a VW Alltrac (admittedly I am not a VW fan in general, but that was a nice car) that had this feature and it was pretty cool.
I have it on my ā€˜21 Premium and never used it. I don’t trust it to give me enough room to exit the car,

Do people have it on their cars and does it work well, worth having??
Yes 22' Job 2. Use it all the time. I never park in the parking lots because of how small the spaces are and trying to avoid door dings. I've only used to perpendicular park assist once and was perfect.

I even frequent a place that you can parallel park on your left side driver side. I can't imagine many people can manually do it in one try without 360 camera (because most if not all time your coming in on your right).

Id be really bummed out if this feature is forever gone in future year models/next gen.

I agree with all the "too slow" comments.
Further, I really lost interest in this feature with the following scenario: Drive into a large lined off parking lot with zero other cars around. Attempt to auto-park between any/all parking lines in a variety of origination points. It seemed that without other vehicles to "bounce off" of with any number of location technologies this circumstance is a non-starter.
As I said prior, it requires a parked car to park next to.

I have a 21. It is slow but it does work very well. Almost too well. It is capable of parallel parking in spots I'd be too afraid to try that are just barely longer than the car itself. But it does it without curbing itself or hitting another car. Perfect every time. (it'll exit parallel spots too). Definitely feels a bit scary when you're not controlling it, but you have to hold down the parking button while it's working. It stops IMMEDIATELY when you let go. So if there's trouble you can always stop the process. Though I've never had to myself

The main reason I want @Ford Motor Company to make good on their promise to deliver the park assist kit is I want my side sensors to be active. Right now only the front and rear sensors are active. The park sensors are way more useful than the actual park assist feature.

In my case I have a document that I had to sign when I bought my car saying. That Ford would deliver the missing parts at a future date. So at least I have a document I can bring up in court if I ever decide to bring legal action.

The side parking sensors, the ones that make the car beep when you get close to something. In the 2022s that didn’t ship with park assist the side sensors are not active. That’s the chip that’s missing to make the whole thing work.

Interesting. How can you tell they are not active?

Put the car in reverse, you will see the backup camera and a top down view of the car. With your foot on the brake, have someone walk around the car. If the car has park assist you will get proximity alerts all the way around the car. If it doesn’t you will only get it on the front and rear, you’ll get nothing on the sides of the car.

Normally you see 14 segmented lines around the car. One on each corner, 2 in the front, back, and 3 on each side. On cars without park assist you will be missing the 3 on each side of the car. See the pic below to see the 3 side lines.

My ā€˜22 Premium made the cut before they started removing Park Assist and I agree. I don’t use the assist feature much but the side sensors are what makes it worth it.

I'm also confused by this... My 21 has no side sensors. 4 in front, 4 in back. That's it. The ones nearest to the corner can see a bit around the side, but not a ton... Is that what you're referring to?
