L2 Charging at 3kw

My 2021 Premium EXT is at home in the garage at 75 degrees connected to my L2 charger and is charging at 3kw which is less than half of its normal charge rate. Tired of dealing with these kind of annoying but not major issues 2 years into it. That said, any ideas?

There are many posts about reduced charging speeds due to high heat. If you have an amber light on the charger it is a charger issue - if not the perhaps an overheat charge port which is what has been reported quite a bit lately.

I spoke to a Ford engineer just yesterday because I have the same problem. I'm using a 240V in my garage and it says it's charging at between 3 and 6kw. He told me it's because of the heat. I told him I'd check back with him in October if it persists. BTW, even though Ford Pass told me it would take over 24 hours to charge to 85% (I had 80 miles left) it took about 7. I think it's a problem with Ford Pass.

1) The Ford Mobile Charger doesn't like the heat. And, it doesn't like being used constantly.

2) FordPass loses the ability to even come close to forecasting completion of charging when it's uncertain as to the kW you're charging with. Try 110v charging. It has no clue. I suspect if your Ford Mobile Charger was working consistently, the forecast would be closer.

110v would really take a couple of days!! BTW, if my car is parked outside in really, really high temps, when I get back to my garage I get a message that I need to plug in because temp is too high. Ford told me that's to cool the engine. That's fine but when I plug in, it starts charging which I guess is ok.

If you don't want it to charge, simply lower the charge % below current setting.

But FordPass might tell you it’s going to take 5 days!

Thanks for the information. Yeah mine says 24 hours to charge as well. My garage is at 70 so that’s not it. I’ll start charging again this morning and compare the FordPass prediction with reality. Hopefully that’s it.

Heats not it for me. What do you mean by “used constantly”. Do you mean plugged in - even when it’s not charging?

And it’s been working fine for two years, nothing has changed in my electrical infrastructure so not sure how the charger could be uncertain as to the kw charging unless the charger itself is having an issue. And do you have links to the Ford information you reference? Thanks.
