I have been having issues for a while and noticed the issue in last year, but could have been even longer. After getting fed up with the slow charging, I finally had the dealer take a look in the last month. I was searching for people with this issue and thankfully discovered this thread and read the entire thing.

my situation:
2021 Job 1 Mach-E. Car starts charging at 8.4kW but quickly within minutes drops to 7, 6, 5 and eventually 4kW when charging on my 40 amp grizzl-e charger.
Tested another 2021 job 1 Mach-E on my home charger and it doesn’t experience the issue.

Tested my car on multiple chargers and am experiencing the issue.
You probably need a new charge port. Have someone check if you have a charge coupler overheating code, if so, then get it replaced.

I would also replace the J1772 cable at the same time, a bad cable with weak sockets can ruin a charge port.

Oops, it IS COVERED under 8/100k warranty now. They must have changed the warranty coverage on it since I last checked, that's good news.

LJ9Z-14A303-D is the part number for the charge port.
Is there any documentation I can point the dealer toward for this claim?

My car threw a powertrain fault, still charges, and they are saying the charge port needs to be replaced and it wont be covered under warranty as I am at 49k miles.

Thanks!

Tell them to check the warranty coverage on that specific part number in PTS.

Turns out it was not the part and was the Drive Motor Battery Pack Charging port pocket. LJ8Z10370B

thanks!

That is the charge port door and surround, not the charge port itself. I don't see how the surround would cause a powertrain fault unless it somehow involved the wiring for the status lights or unlock button (which is dumb, it's just a status light).

Obviously the charge port door and/or low voltage wiring would not be covered by the EV warranty.

Completely agree. I don’t understand its connection to powertrain either.
Dealer wanted $1.2k in labor to replace. Going to DIY and hope it solves it. I’ll update in a few days
