I talked to a Ford rep and he is going to start the buyback process. He was able to review my case from the last time this happened. The service center had all sorts of wonky dates. They only put one HVBJB changeout on the original work order/receipt they gave me so I might have to go down there and make them annotate that it was changed twice.I wonder if the problem isn't actually the HVBJB, since it is a standard range select, so shouldn't be failing to begin with, much less 3 times in 4 months of ownership. There may be something wrong that is predisposing the HVBJB to fail. Regardless, this seems like a reasonable case to push Ford to do a buy back. The lemon law process in Maine is slow, and I assume comparably slow in California. I am sorry the one you got appears to be a dud.
When talking to him I told that I don't trust a third HVBJB replacement in four months will matter and just like you said, there might be a reason this particular vehicle is not accepting the HVBJB. It's like a patient rejecting a donated organ.
I might go with the buy back instead of the lemon law because Ford might be willing to give in a little quicker if it means I stay with them and they move another Mach-E off their lot.
