One other Lightning advantage is that it comes with a spare. I used to pooh-pooh concept of a spare (because I hadn't had a flat for over 30 years), but a couple of months ago my Lightning was punctured in a way that it wouldn't hold any air. That spare saved me a few hours. Those who had to call for a tow truck recently, know what I'm talking about.

Auto lane change isn’t available on all Mach es and will come to lightning’s with the rest of the MMEs in the future.
The phone charge pad on my 21 is garbage. I’m anxiously waiting for my updated pad from the goodwill program, if ford ever ships it…
My 23 MME is trash too. The phone over heats, and actually loses charge while on the wireless charger. As I understand it, I am supposed to have the new charger.

Not true. MME will charge to the target charge limit. I was wishing I had the option of a one time charge limit in the MME on Friday night. Instead I had to change my home target charge limit to 100% then change it back again to 85% after charging.
Can't you just do that in the FordPass app? Once it's charging, you can click charge to 100%, the next usage will go back to your target charge limit.

It should be part of the charging app in the vehicle as well.

I mean, sure. I do get annoyed with my Model S that I have to reset the charge limit the other way though. I prefer the location based max setting vs Tesla's always preset total. If I move the slider to 100% I have to remember to put it back to 90%.

In a just and perfect world, we would have both. Default max and location based max that would override it.

Posted same info on the Lightning forum:

Purchased a '23 ER Lightning in Oct 23.
Been loving it for past 6 months.

Began looking for an EV for my better half around Feb.
Lots of options - decided upon a MME due to a number of reasons.
Pulled the trigger a few weeks ago.
ER, dual motor premium trim.

Traded vehicles this weekend and took the weekly drive from Oregon Coast to Seattle with MME today.

A quick report out of my impressions / better / worse between the two.
If you have information on how to adjust settings - please let me know.

MME Better:
- Auto lane changing with Blue Cruise - would really like this with the F150
- Trip screen has a "How's my driving" - I like that rating as I gain experience in the EV space
- Love the "puddle light". Wish the Lightning had this cool effect.
- Phone charger pad is actually accessible and useable
- Fits in the garage

Lightning better:
- Driver display has more and better data
- Can set "one time charge limit" on the charging page
- Better lane centering. MME "ping pongs"
- Blue Cruise doesn't slow down on corners like on the MME
- All enclosures have buttons in the cab to open - not so on MME
- Sync screen has more functions like Alexa
- Quieter
- Sun roof opens
- Pro Power outlets
- *** DRUM ROLL ***: Its a truck

Caveat: The above based upon 6 months+ on F150, one weekend with the MME
Thanks for this, welcome, we love our 2 MME's. Great to hear what you say about lightening, enjoy

I prefer to keep the battery between 70 to 30 percent and plan trips accordingly.
This is based upon some published engineering studies to maximize battery life.
On the Lightning, when stopping at a DC fast charger, I set the one time max charge to 70%. Would like similiar functionality with the MME.
I prefer 85 percent because 85 percent indicated is close to 75 percent true, because of the designed buffer, but i agree with your sentiment and request even if we differ on number. Ford recommends charging to 90 percent for NMC packs, and a several hour cool down period, and makes neither easy. Cmon, Ford!

Probably doesn't apply to a huge number of people, but Lightning can be used a home backup power source. MachE cannot.

The mache can't *out of the box*. Adding a 2kw inverter, wiring it with a plug in the frunk, is about 1500 for high quality parts, 500 for mid quality parts, and takes about an hour to install. Several threads on this forum. Much cheaper than an F150.

A 6kw inverter has also been posted about, a more aggressive mod. 2kw was good enough for me. Some say 1kw is a better limit for non-gt. Still, it is all in the same range.

A laptop though? ha, that falls very easily in the power band of the 12v ports. Just plug in. I have a cheap 450w rated inverter (that really does about 250w which is about what that port is fused to) that i bought at a truck stop years ago, i keep it in that space under the wireless phone charger, and pull it out the rare occasions i need it.

Adding a factory option for 110v is so far down my ask list when it is this easy to add after market....

Because the HV battery has two buffers (upper and lower), 85% indicated is really close to 80% actual. ??

If I could get 220v out of the MME it would be my next project to get it ready for the house Gen set input plug!

Have the lightning all setup to power the house should the natural gas whole house Gen set fail.
