To log trends with car scanner pro, go to live data. Pick the points you want to see. Go to data recorder and check record data. You will see a file name appear.

Finally when you are done your test click “disconnect” for the obd device on the Home Screen and it stops trending And writes the file. If you end the app while still logging, you lose the data.

I hear you can pick all the points if you want, but I could not get that to work. I should have added the fluid temperature for the battery.

I guess it records every time you start the app and display the live data. Also, there is a bug in the dashboard, it crashes when you try to add or charge points at least on Apple devices.

Too bad they can't reprogram the HVAC to use only 50% outside air. I think right now it's either 100% or 0% depending on the recirc setting.

Lowering the blower speed will still help because then you're taking in less outside air. It's a balance between extracting enough BTUs from the heater core, and taking in too much outside air to heat effectively. It would be smart if the blower could be programmed to maintain a set vent temp of say 85ºF by adjusting airflow.

Doing some calculations, it seems the battery could be heated up about 0.5-0.75ºC per minute if all the heat goes to it, which would take about 30 minutes to warm up. Then the cabin would take another 20-30 minutes. So yeah, that's why preconditioning takes 50 minutes. I think the heater is really only sized to heat the battery or cabin, not both. They should really have two heaters or increase the output to 8+ kW instead of 5.5 kW.
It does not use 100% or zero percent. Zero in recirc, a small or certain percentage for normal ops (I assume 10% to 20%) and 100% for MAX defrost or possibly when the windshield sensors say it needs defrost due to fog. The last is not proven.

Ok So got the word today after ford and the dealer worked on it. It needs the whole heater unit replaced. Even on a above 0c day it failed their test measurably. Snag being part on back order but car not safe with no defrost so waiting to see how long I can keep the loaner for or how that will work. Bronco Sport is a neat little rig for the price. I assume this post will update people?? not a forum user much anymore.

Great update. Thank you. Good to know it was an issue and not a design item. There was someone else with a similar issue and that was the problem as well. Sorry you will have to go without It for a time. And I guess you have a loaner.

You made me get the stuff to have a deep dive into how mine worked and I have had a lot of fun.

Yeah love data logs. I am hoping to get it working with my motorcycle too but they are not really odb2 compliant.

Did they say what's wrong with it?
OBD2 is lying and it isn't actually using anywhere near 5kws?
Giant crack in it and all the heated air's being redirected outside?

Nope they tested coolant temp in and out then did it moving and it failed miserably. Engineering is involved and I don't expect to be told much.

Amazing Cal-E is back home with excellent heat. Not too cold today but a totally different heating performance. They did say the part was physically different looking and some connections or something were different so that's promising. Car sat a few hours at work in the dark mostly -7c no preheat or remote start. Just got in and started it drove maybe 300ft to the gate and already started to get warmish air out the vents. Temp was set to 20.5c. Drove about 2km and full hot air was well under way. Very nice. Not to see how it is on a really cold day but it never worked like this. Get into the dealer if you heat is weak or not working its not normal.

What was your build date? I'm wondering if this only effects Job 1 cars and they made improvements or if its a 2022 part.

Build was late may 2021. I feel like its the 2022 part given the info the Ford rep gave me about possible wait for the part and it was redesigned and part number changed up more than once maybe.

Not saying it is or isn't a different part but part numbers change all the time. Reason being is that every single change needs to be able to be tracked from the car all the way back to where each part was built. Even something as small as a supplier of a supplier of a supplier changing the order of how they assemble their part can lead to a part number change. The GM ignition switch issue was made worse by them not following this practice: they made drastic design changes and kept the same part number

Was more just making a general comment about going based on part numbers, not your specific case. Sorry, I didn't make that as clear as I should have. But that is intriguing it has different connectors, I'll have to do some digging on that part

Yeah no worries. They were hoping for revised part and were please to see it. I suspect someone else is making in the part now.

Hey Josh, Don from the FB group. Just read through this whole thread. My car is a late April build. Maybe there is a connection on the build times.
