I accidentally pressed the button on the door when the door was open. the key was left in the car. I slammed the door and that's it. now I can't open it. the card with the password for the door is in the trunk, I don't remember the password. there is no other key at all. what are the options to open it? I heard that you can get the factory password for the door, which doesn't change, it is connected to the vin number. and what are the other options to open the car? and why did it close with the key inside?
Ummmm you never set up phone as a key? How about using FordPass to unlock the car?

They're MIA. They either broke a window to get in, got a s/o to bring the spare key, called AAA, hired a car thief to break in, sold the car for cash and walked, randomly pressed buttons on FordPass until the car unlocked, or were trolling. I'm going with "sold the car."

Im just here to say that I'm sad Ford seems to be going away from the Securicode keypad on a lot of their other models. I know we can use FordPass to lock and unlock our cars but it’s nice to have a backup for your backup just in case your phone is dead or not on you.

Or use your birthday, or your home address, or your kid's birthday, or something you use every day. The likelihood that some random thief will know any of this is pretty small
Except when the car is parked at your home address.

I use our zip code we had when living in Pennsylvania. We currently live in Hawaii. It’s going to take the non smash and grab thieves a while to figure that one out.

Totally agree that the keypad is awesome. It was a lifesaver for me when parked in a parking garage. I use PAAK but it was not working and further the connection to the car was blocked by the interference from the garage. I was able to use the keypad to get in. Once in, it complained about ā€œno keyā€ but I was able to use my backup password to start the car. Great system with plenty of options to cover these kinds of situations.

Along the lines of what Rick said, a lot of people may not even be aware the key card exists. I know in the early days many posts by people who asked "what card?" I carry it in my wallet, and back with my 21 (one of the one fob only cars) I set up PAAK and put the master code on the key card as well. WIth my 23 I never bothered with PAAK.

Interesting about the keypad going away.
I never carry a key fob unless out of town. I've never had to use it. I have, however, used the keypad and backup start code on rare occassions. They are little used, but it's supposed to be little used. Dah!! When you need it, you really need it.
As for the factory code. I had forgotten about it. I can't find my card with the factory code anywhere. I'm sure it has very cleverly hidden away!! Can we obtain our factory code from Ford?

Which is useful if
a) you didn't lock your phone in the car
and
b) neither PaaK nor the FordPass app will open the car
Mine won’t let me lock my phone in the car. I’ve tried a few times inadvertently.

Same here, I use an address from when I was in college.

I've never heard that one before. I lock my phone in the car all the time (I leave it in the console) and am able to do it with the keypad, the fob, or my Apple watch. And yes I have PAAK setup. I did it all the time on the '21 and just checked the '24 and same thing.

It won’t lock even when using the 7-8 & 9-0 (simultaneously) buttons? I wonder if there’s a setting?

If there is, I've never seen one.

4 ways I know of that a working key fob (not in a faraday bag or with battery removed) can be locked inside the car:

1. Touching the 7/8, 9/0 buttons on the driver's door keypad.
2. Touching any exterior door lock button with your PAAK enabled phone or second key fob in your pocket.
3. Pressing the lock button on your PAAK enabled phone/watch or second key fob.
4. Apple computer with iPhone Mirroring enabled.
Did not realize the Apple Watch had this feature. I wasn’t locked out but didn’t want to go back in the house for fob or phone. Great feature.
