The train that left the plant on 25th /26th should be close to KC any time now. The shortest I have seen reported was 11 days to KC and most about 14 days (again these are only few data points) - so anytime between now and Monday I would guess palsapp to show an update.

As @highland58 pointed out it was last reported 400 miles south and at 100 miles a day, it should be reaching KC today/tomorrow...my Guess O Meter :)
Still totally puzzled at how a rail car only makes it around 100 miles a day. Golf carts are faster. But yes, that seems to be about right. It's ~1600 miles from Cuautitlan to KC.

Mine should be on that train too.

Because it's the cheap seats.

Yup but it is what it is right - I think these trains at many points for 30 mins to an hour - may be to let other trains go or what ever they need to do. Plus speeds are generally slow due to the weight

My dealer didn’t quote me a delivery time. I checked the palsapp and it is now saying New Castle Delaware with a null. Not sure what that means? It is coming up to NY, but my original order didn’t have that as a destination. I also sent my dealer a list of 4 items that I wanted nailed down pre delivery:
1-X Plan
2-Rebate for NY is done at sale
3-Options Plan Information
4–$100 pre buy driver assist
They didn’t have any clear info on any of them for me. The salesman basically said we’ll take care of all of that when we process the paperwork.
My sales guy sent me the X-plan price but nothing else. Gave me the same reply as your guy when I pressed him for details on RCL and Ford Options pricing. Said he can't process any finance stuff until the car hits his lot. Thinking it's a stall tactic but can't get him to budge.

For units going to the East Coast, do they still transfer through KC? Palsap says Delaware on the pending screen.
Yep. They get moved from KS to Brimingham Mo (code name VOLTZ) by truck, so you'll see that in palsapp when it happens. Here's the timing of mine:
  • Loaded on a train car in cuatitlan on 1/15
  • Unloaded in KC on 1/26
  • Hauled by jack cooper from KC to birmingham on 1/29 (code name VOLTZ). This showed in palsapp on 1/29
  • Got loaded on a norfolk southern freight car 1/29 or 1/30 headed east
  • Arrived in Conway PA on evening of 2/2.
  • Freight car sat there for about 30 hours
  • headed east again morning of 2/4
  • as of this morning (2/5) passed through harrisburg headed to northern delaware.

Ironically, a transatlantic ship might move at a faster average pace.

Thanks Tim, I'll keep an eye on Palsapp then for a possible update over the weekend since it's been 14 days exactly since my ship date.

per post above.. Shipping cars hasn't improved one bit in all these years. Must be the slowest delivery process on earth. But that may be why it's likely the cheapest. Cars built in China, or Europe I've had come way faster than cars form Mexico. This spec build process is not for the impatient.

Its particularly challenging now with new model, pandemic and the plant where these are built is quite far away. Plus most pain comes from having to wait literally from 2019 for a year before the production is even ready to start. That just compounds the negative feelings.

If not for a new model, the spec build may not be this long. In Feb 2020 I ordered a BMWX3 PHEV and it is built in SC and it arrived in May at dealer. I did not take it, canceled and ordered the MME. But even with early Covid plant shut downs that delivery was only 3.5 months. SO I expect down the road this MME process to not be as bad.

I'm in the last month of my 3-year i3 lease. I did a custom order thru the dealer in late December and the car was delivered in late February from the i3 plant in Germany. So MME timelines are not that far off the transatlantic avenue.

Your info confirms what we have seen reported here - about 2 days to get transferred to the next Ramp . To save myself anguish and agony I think in buckets of 7 or 14 days. And 2 to 3 days to get ramp transfer. After that pretty much wait 14 more days to west coast (for me at least)
14 days from KC to Cal is ridiculously slow. It’s too bad they can’t ship them by truck that far. I’ve made the drive from the Midwest to SoCal a few times and it only took a day and a half including an overnight stop halfway. I’m guessing the trains must be running super slow because they’re transporting cars and/or making lengthy pitstops stops every couple hundred miles?

My car shipped 14 days ago and yet no update on palsapp. Hopefully there will be soon, but it sounds like some deliveries have occurred without any palsapp updates, so who knows. My delivery window to San Diego is 2/13-2/19, so hopefully it leaves KC fairly soon.
Yes Palsapp never showed mine and dealer has it inbound next Friday.

Or every couple hundred yards to take that long.

Either that, or they only run for 2-3 hours before calling it a day.

I've seen these trains run incrediebly fast actually. Even ones with what seems like hundreds of rail cars long. I think there is more likely a whole lot of stopping and layovers for whatever reason. And trucking was way faster, but way more expensive, and of course, not an option here.

I haven’t been tracking my fe drop and don’t have the vin but if today the dealer said on his system that it’s still in Mexico, could it be on a train or is it still in Mexico? It is listed with original eta 2/15.
