Anyone know what the tons/BTUs are of the MachE (2024 premium if it matters)? All I can find is generic cars are 5 tons and dual systems like vans/SUVs are 7+ tons but that is with a variable speed compressor of gas motor.
Ie im hot ?

5 tons? Not a chance. Most home A/C units are in the 2-ton to 5-ton range.

This is what I found on search and why a car ac cycles.
Your car Air Conditioning is about 5 Tons(60,000 BTU) at highway speeds. Yes sixty-THOUSAND BTU, not a typo. The compressor has to operate at a variety of speeds, from idle to redline, and a wildly wide range of thermal load, and temperature. The entire system has to put up with vibration and movement, and is assembled with lines that bolt or latch together which give many more points for failure.

The blower is about 150 CFM and the actual tonnage is about 1.5. Maybe 2.0 tons peak with good airflow at highway speed. It’s not undersized.

If the system isn’t performing well, make sure you change your cabin air filter, and verify that all of the vents are fully open. Any restriction in airflow will cause loss of cooling capacity.

I’ve noticed if you leave it in auto it seems to optimize for energy. Not time-to-cool.

If you just turn it all the way down to low it will blow quite cold air. It’s obviously capable.

Yes, use the MAX A/C button when you first get in to cool it down, then switch back to AUTO.

I too live in Texas and I just pre-condition the cabin and I have no issues

I just wish it had an OFF button.
Agree! It stinks that we have hit the HVAC symbol in the lower right to get to another screen to turn it off or to turn the recirculate on. Fiddling with the touchscreen negatively affects safe driving.

I have a pretty set routine and prepare cabin off plug, I’m only at 9k so shouldn’t need a cabin air filter.
We have had some very humid days and issue seems to be that it just doesn’t have the capacity to remove the moisture is why I was asking if anyone knew what the btu rating was. I’ll try calling Ford

Air filter replacement is less about mileage and more about hours of use. If you drive 9K miles around town at average 30mph and I drive 9K miles on the highway at average 60mph, your filter will will have seen twice as much "usage" as mine.

Please share what you learn. I live in a desert and the air blown out the vents is still stinky and musty (odometer is slightly over 3k miles). The couple threads I've seen here about it are not promising.

This is a bit off subject, but the first summer after getting my vehicle, I couldn't understand why the air conditioning was so ineffective. I eventually figured out that the vehicle arrived with all of the vents closed. I had been driving with the vents closed all winter--more than a bit embarrassing!

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing.
