Tesla Vandal Caught on Sentry Mode


The perpetrator was arrested and spent 1 day in jail. He retained an attorney and pled not guilty to Felony Vandalism.

After multiple extensions he pled down to Misdemeanor Vandalism. He’s been sentenced to time served with 12 months probation. He’s been ordered by the court to pay $200 per month until restitution has been made. Total damage is around $3000.

That’s well and good, if you’re lucky enough to recognize the offender, then figure out their insurance company.

It might work also if you get the license plate in the video somehow as well.

But without either of those situations, you’d just be looking for the “man in the yellow hat.”

The assertion was that insurance companies were paying. Glad that law enforcement cared enough to pursue this guy and that the DA could be troubled to do something about it. Here in PA, nothing would happen unless you were politically connected. Best to go make a claim against comprehensive and move on. Let your insurance company pursue it if they want.

It can work, just gotta be lucky.

In states with no front license plates will be much harder to get lucky. And if the vandal didn’t drive nor park right in the direct line of the cameras…..

Basically the video is posted because it’s rare that it’ll lead to a conviction. Glad the a-hole got caught! No clue why he even targeted the car. Not like he got cut off or anything.

Sad to report the mall cameras did not get any usable footage according to the officer. Apparently the mall has roving cameras that attempt to cover an area... well 750 deductible it is. Karma should take care of this one.

If it makes you feel any better (it won't), I recently bought a fundraiser pie from my manager, and he put it in the plant breakroom freezer. I forgot about it for a few days, and when I remembered and went to get it I found someone had already stolen it. People suck.

How much without going thru insurance? Your premium might go up if you use insurance.
