Yeah the “new / improved” HVBJB in my late ‘22 premium awd ext. says the problem is not fixed. Failed at 4k miles. Dealer originally just “updated the software” and sent me on my way. Makes it look like the problem is gone but it’s not. Got SVS/SSN again 3 days later. It’s been in the shop for almost two months now waiting for proper repair..

FYI ford corporate will pay for a rental car if you can’t get a loaner. They’ll claim that they can’t reimburse you until the repairs are complete, but that’s a lie. Your representative can escalate your case to their manager and get it reimbursed sooner. The BEV team ghosted me too, so I started contacting the main customer service line for assistance. You’ll get a different person each time you call, they’ll have to re-learn your case history every time, but it’s better than radio silence.

Lemon laws generally require 30-45+ days in the shop and/or repeated (3+) attempts to fix the same problem. It varies from state to state, but you probably aren’t there yet.

I am surprised that there are no codes for the second event.
No error codes on the VIN, no msgs in fordpass, confirmed by the service department. Nothing to fix. My photograph is the only evidence it happened aside from the nice folks who checked on me. It started up completely normal on the 6-7th try about 15 mins later, so as far I as know I have a car that will stop while in motion for no reason whatsoever.

TWO MONTHS!?!?

That's good to know about lemon laws but I imagine there's a high risk of serious injury to me or someone else if I take this car back out on the road. Also high chance I'll be sued if my car is known to stop for no reason. I'm averaging one unfixable failure every 2 months.

When my BEV guy ghosted me he came back with "I got a new laptop sorry." LOL. He got me a $40 debit card for gas.

Yeah my state requires 45 days in the shop for lemon law claims and I just hit that threshold a week ago. Haven’t filed a claim yet because I’m out of town traveling for work, but I’ve researched local lemon law attorneys and have a folder of relevant documentation on my computer ready to go.

I also think I made a mistake choosing my dealership. After the first “repair” I tried to take it to a different dealership and was turned away. I was told the original dealership had priority rights to fix their mistake. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but at the time I said “ok” and went back to the original dealership, where they put me back at the bottom of the repair queue.

However, things finally appear to be moving along. fingers crossed.

I have a practical experience with lemon law (not with ford). I’d advise you to contact a lawyer and get advice. Lemon law varies by state, but the fed version (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) provides ample protection. Typically three strikes are required, not length of time out of service. You can bring a case based on the fed law if your state law doesn’t offer adequate protection.

In our case, we sent letters, they told us to shove them. We sued and ended up settling out of court. But I had a laundry list of legitimate complaints, nicely documented by the dealers. I thought at the time they were not worth lemoning the car over, but impacted its value tremendously. In hindsight I should have lemoned. Ended up selling at a big loss.

Sorry you’re dealing with this and what sondes like a bad dealer. My MME was a buyback so that’s absolutely a lie. Once they buy back, Ford engineers get directly involved onsite at the qualified dealer handling the buyback. It seems like if given the opportunity, Ford would rather buyback, especially once it qualifies for a lemon law.

For lemon law, you're in Maine. The process isn't too bad, but no, you have not met criteria yet. 3 service appointments tí try to fix the issue, or 15 business days in the shop. Or the brakes or steering fails and they can't fix it.

I recommend trying to get Ford to do a buyback first, because the lemon law process is annoying and slow, even though yes, it's doable without a lawyer. However, document everything. Dates, locations, how it failed, what you had to do to get it out of traffic and to a dealership for repair. What the staff at the dealership say. Save all your documents. I've been through the process here in Maine, as I tried to argue that my Toyota bZ4X was a lemon because after about 400-500 miles of driving per 24 hours, it throttled fast charging to level 2 speeds. I lost, because I was told that EVs are not yet designed to get people to distant places in a hurry. Yeah...
If they truly cannot fix your car, you may have a decent case, but tell Ford that when trying For a buyback. Or better yet, hopefully Ford can help you figure out what's wrong and fix your car. I love my MME, but I would be so frustrated and upset if mine were abruptly stopping mid-drive, and then magically better once at the dealership, with no explanation. Hopefully yours can get fixed.

Unfortunately, I’m now here today with a 2023 GTPE, and similarly, the dealer’s service center never answers.

I hesitate to just tow it and drop it off, as this is my only car & the dealer never has loaners.

I will try to be optimistic, but this problematic with only 6,057 miles on the car.

This is totally incorrect. Buy a $19 OBDII reader and plug it in to your car. Unless the dealer cleared codes (possible), you’ll have stored and pending fault codes.

You don’t need FordPass or a dealer to get codes.

Not true. My VW ID.4 shut down in the middle of the road back in 2021 and there were no error codes found at my dealership. Fasts forward years later and VW has discovered various issues that can cause ID.4 to lose HV power when driving. Error codes imply some sort of known failure condition.

Gee this is not comforting.

I thought these HVBJB issues have been resolved for '23 MME ?

2 months in - 2000 miles - still going well with no errors / codes / messages.

Just the occasional Carplay drop...
Who says it was HVBJB?

I realize every incident is an independent event and offers no reliable look into the future for me, but I have a 23 GTPE with 5,000 miles and it is human nature to become uncomfortable reading your story considering the history of the car. Please provide updates; good luck.

I thought dealers could look up any codes remotely? I know some people on here have access to that system.
