Mach E vs the Ioniq 5

There's apparently a rendering of the N variant out there. I tell ya, if it comes out looking close to this with the EV6 GT performance and Ford keeps messing with my order, I may jump ship. This is a nice looking hatch

I had reserved a first edition of both and cancelled on both. The EV6 because it was Matte paint and I wasn't a fan of the other colors. The Ioniq scares me because of all the tricks on it. I can see weird problems with the lights, or angles on the body leading to weird problems.

That said, I like the feature package better than what's available on the Mach E, especially the HUD and I'm almost certain the safety stuff is better on the Hyundai / Kia. I like the tires on the Mach E better, not because of looks but the higher profile, I drive a lot of not great roads around here.

Since I'm a perennial fence sitter on an EV, there's time for these to come back into the fray.

I have a reservation on the Ioniq 5 for our second car alongside our Route 1, but not a peep from Hyundai other than the initial confirmation email ?‍

But none of it really matters anyway until they release the pricing, which I'm hoping is in the mid 40s for the mid level trim. If it ends up being like $50k for the trim we want, I'll just be getting another Route 1 (or an ID4 Pro if we want to save some money).

For what is worth, because Ford wasn't able to deliver my Mach-E (the last 2 months, they kept saying that the car would be deliver "next week"), I ordered an Ioniq 5 3 weeks ago and got it last Friday.

To be honest, when I saw the announcement, I thought, this might have been the car I would have ordered if I did not have a reservation on my Mach-E and (at that time) would get it in a month or so (original delivery was planned on April 24th). After Ford not being able to deliver and not considering me at all (Ford France is way different than Ford in the US, and they really don't give a s..t on their customers), I took the opportunity to switch to it.

The car is amazing! The look is really different than the Mustang, looks more like a concept car (this is what people tells me when they see the car) where the Mustang was looking really sporty.
I personally like both designs, but I can understand that people don't like the Ioniq 5.
I can tell you though that the car looks much better in real than in pictures, and that this is a big car (not the compact size it looks on pictures). It actually is bigger than the Mach-E inside!

The car has a lot of features I was missing the Mach-E (front ventilated seats, heated rear seats, HUD, etc.) and has a lot of cool features such as the V2L, zero-gravity seats, control of all seats from the driver's seat, augmented reality GPS in the HUD, amazing interactive 3D view of the car (in combination of the 360) - see below -, control of the car with the key (without being in the car), etc.

Another clever idea, you can control the back seats position (they are electric too) and the zero gravity position of the passager seat from the driver seat ??

You also can memorize 3 settings of the whole car seats and retrieve them from the info panel. Very easy to switch from one complete configuration to another. For example, I memorized 2 settings, one with the back seats at the rear position (to maximize space for legs) when I drive with people behind, and one with the back seats at the front position (to maximize cargo space) when I need a big trunk ?

Neat! I've never seen electronically controlled rear seats.

That's a great idea for two positions to maximize back seat passenger comfort of for cargo space! Love it!

They are actually easy to reach from both sides. For the driver, they are just there and you can see them, for the passenger, it is like scratching your left arm with your right hand, you don’t see easily where they are, but easy to find out which button it is and manipulate it ?

But the idea is really to help the driver doing actions when alone in the car! ??

800v is really nice for the future, but it isn’t enough to overcome all the MME’s advantages.

• The Ioniq is ugly. Somebody else made a “Blade Runner” reference and that sums it up pretty well.
• Pano glass roof appears to be a lot less pano.
• Screens look ugly and less useable.
• I suspect we’re going to find the MME to be superior in lots of other areas, such as ride quality, noise reduction, internal materials, and rear legroom.

On the plus side, you can use a hair straightener!

Excuse me but LOL

All of the things you're mentioning are all areas where the Ioniq 5 is way better than the Mach-E. Drive one (if/when it is possible) and we'll talk about it again then ?.
...and I don't mention all the things that the Mach-E does not have...
