Our 2024 Chevy Trax and 2016 Chevy Volt never have these problems at the same car wash. I'm also reading the reviews for Driven Carwash; no one else has had these problems.

Since other MME owners on this forum have had the same problem with the same components, it must be a Ford problem. The carwash's lawyers and Ford's lawyers will say the same thing.
By all means quit posting here about the major defect and start you buy back process or get a lawyer. Good luck , but you likely have a better chance winning the lottery. Wait until you start having issues with that little 1.2l 3 cylinder engine In the trax, you can start a buyback with Chevy also.

Just like cars, not all car washes are the same either. The higher end, newer auto wash places are much better than the auto-scratchers of years ago. We have a chain here in Ohio called Moo-Moo (lol...it's a long story..?), but they are excellent, do a fantastic job, are as "gentle" as you will get with an auto wash. I've been through these for years, with all types of vehicles, and never had a problem. Not to say it couldn't happen. But my hand-washing days are done, so I'm happy to have this option. So, bottom line OP, maybe seek out a newer, more modern auto wash place. And it's also completely feasible your car also had some "suspect" parts that could have failed at any wash. It's hard to say, but I believe the car wash itself is of primary importance.

I've uncovered, pun not intended, several defects on the MME.

The carwash I use, where I've washed my MME dozens of times in the past years, knocked the cover off my charge port door. Many people on this forum have experienced this defect. I went back to the carwash today to see if they found it on the track, but they have not. They said they never adjust the pressure settings, and I believe them.

I went back through the was this morning but asked them to switch to "touchless" mode. After the wash, I pulled around and wiped down the car with the free cloths they provide to customers. I found a sensor door on the front of the car, and it was dangling! I do remember this happening a long time ago.

I love my MME, but now I'm starting to think I should call and ask about the buyback program.

That's the thing: I'm using a very sophisticated, high-end wash in my area called "Driven".

I went back to the place yesterday to explain what happened. An employee said they never adjust the hose pressure, which makes sense. Like a McDonald's, you usually have a consistent result. He said he'll look up the video and get back to me by Monday. I'll have to fill out an incident report, and then Driven and Ford will go back and forth on who is to blame.

More than a handful of people on this forum have seen the same issue, I'd say it's a design problem with the MME.

I almost never use a touch carwash. I always do it by hand and frequently use touchless. We had a new place open up. They gave away free washes the first weekend. I had just gotten the white Rally model wheels. The new manager knew me and asked if he could take a picture afterward for the social media. I rolled through and noticed he didn't seem to take the picture. I got 10 mins down the street and got out the car an there was a black substance smeared all over my wheels. I ended up just doing them over by hand and thankfully they were fine. Never again though.

Yeah, that certainly seems like a quality auto-wash, similar to the Moo-Moo's here, I wouldn't hesitate to go there. It's probably a combination of things...the design could be more robust, the parts may have had some tolerance issues, OEM assembly was maybe off a little, and perhaps something stuck in the car wash brush... who really knows, the perfect storm? If it were me, I would look into making the repairs in a way that would make the parts fit & stay, at a higher level. Maybe adding some kind of non-permanent adhesive, or something like that. I know it's annoying, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not really a big issue. Good luck with it.

I found a sensor door
That’s not a sensor door. It’s where the leads that allow access to the frunk in the event of a total 12v battery failure are located. It’s designed to be able to be opened fairly easily.

As for car washes, I never take my car to one. What you’re experiencing is one of the reasons. The charge port door cover can be replaced. This link was posted on another thread about this same subject on Friday. It’s apparently a painted version of thr door cover.

Automatic car washes, though they’ve gotten better, are inherently bad for your paint and trim. Admittedly, I use them on rare occasions, but mostly wash by hand at home or use the spray wash up the street. One “blessing” of living in the Northwest is that it’s pretty futile to wash your car between October and April.
