I almost never use a touch carwash. I always do it by hand and frequently use touchless. We had a new place open up. They gave away free washes the first weekend. I had just gotten the white Rally model wheels. The new manager knew me and asked if he could take a picture afterward for the social media. I rolled through and noticed he didn't seem to take the picture. I got 10 mins down the street and got out the car an there was a black substance smeared all over my wheels. I ended up just doing them over by hand and thankfully they were fine. Never again though.
It's a good idea to use touchless. I tried it when I returned to tell them about the incident, and I didn't know it was an option until I asked. My car was just as clean as after a wash with the brushes.

He won't get a buyback for this. It would need to be a minimum of 3 failed repair attempts by the dealer and under the factory warranty. At least that's the way it is here in MN.
I think you're referring to the state Lemon Laws. I'm referring to Ford's buyback program for dissatisfied customers. Again, I'm starting to think about exploring options.

Ford’s Buyback Program

If you’re dissatisfied with your vehicle’s performance, Ford offers a buyback program, often called the Reacquired Vehicle (RAV) program. This program addresses customer concerns by reacquiring vehicles that may not meet expectations.

Initiating the Buyback Process
To begin the buyback process:
1. Contact Ford Customer Service: Contact Ford directly at (800) 392-3673 to express your concerns and desire to initiate a buyback.
2. Provide Vehicle Information: Be prepared to supply your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), purchase details, and any service records related to your concerns.
3. Await Case Review: Ford will assign a case manager to review your situation. The duration of this process can vary; some customers have reported timelines ranging from a few weeks to several months.

Nope, what I was referring to is part of Fords buyback program. It essentially mirrors lemon laws. Several other's have said the same thing.

IMHO its questionable that this is even a warranty issue. it definitely has not been attempted to be fixed under warranty or not.

But if you believe differently start the process and report your results, Good luck

By all means quit posting here about the major defect and start you buy back process or get a lawyer. Good luck , but you likely have a better chance winning the lottery. Wait until you start having issues with that little 1.2l 3 cylinder engine In the trax, you can start a buyback with Chevy also.

Since you quoted me, let me just say that the buyback program was used extensively by owners of the early generation vehicles because they had quite a few issues. Most people had repetitive repair work, repeat failures leaving people stranded or very extended repair times.

I would agree with others that, as I see it, there's not substantially enough based on your post to warrant a buy back. Ford was generous with them in the early days, but I doubt they would be so generous now since many of those serious issues are resolved.

Additionally, I don't think you would find an attorney to take up a claim based on your post as I don't see any significant financial damages, but pick up a phone and call if that's the route you feel like going. I'm not an attorney and can't speak for all of them out there.

Lastly, for those posting that you need 3 repair attempts in order to remedy the complaint, you're wrong and it doesn't matter what state you are in. The lemon law can be all but guaranteed by meeting the criteria, but that doesn't mean you can't take legal action even if falling outside of the laws limits. Most auto makers have a policy for settlement if there's valid concern and financial hardship on the owner. Ford's buy back, for example, was not based on the lemon law, it was based on their own criteria.
Thanks for chiming in on that Todd. How are the new vehicles?

……….Ford is not going to buy back your car because you took it through a car wash and something fell off. The opening on the front bumper is not a sensor it’s the opening where the cables are located to open the frunk in case the battery dies. That “dangling” piece pops right back on. Going forward either wash your car by hand or find a touchless wash and enjoy your car.

Everything is amazing.

Rivian Received June 2023 - 22k mi
Tesla Received November 2023 - 37k mi

I had the battery pack replaced on the R1T about a month after I purchased it due to a defective bidirectional control module. Ever since it's been an amazing vehicle. I highly recommend Rivian.
The Tesla M3P gets driven a lot. FSD was extremely annoying when I first got the vehicle. Improvements via updates have made it great and I use it all the time. It's never had a single issue other than a rock that attacked my windshield. It's a very reliable vehicle.

I would, hands down, purchase from either company again.

Hope all is well with you!

Rivian finally broke ground on their service center for the state over on Oahu. They’re renovating a largish industrial building. That will be a good thing. Currently they do mobile service everywhere similar to how Tesla handled things in the past.

Sounds like a good choice in vehicles.

This isn’t a major external defect. Nor is it a valid reason for a buyback. It isn’t a performance or safety related defect. It’s just an unfortunate cosmetic issue.

That's the thing: I'm using a very sophisticated, high-end wash in my area called "Driven".

https://drivencarwash.com/#wash-menu

I went back to the place yesterday to explain what happened. An employee said they never adjust the hose pressure, which makes sense. Like a McDonald's, you usually have a consistent result. He said he'll look up the video and get back to me by Monday. I'll have to fill out an incident report, and then Driven and Ford will go back and forth on who is to blame.

More than a handful of people on this forum have seen the same issue, I'd say it's a design problem with the MME.
According to Google reviews, you are not the only person to have his car damaged by this business....Driven Carwash in Arlington Heights IL.

Thanks. No place bats 1000, and it's hard to glean exactly what happened with the incidents I found on Yelp, but the fact is that more than a few people on this forum have had the same issue with the charge port door and a car wash. I plan to file an incident report today at the location.

Then get rid of your Ford, I have rust spot on my 2024 4Runner, that’s been the same design for over 10 years and Toyota never fixed the issues. But I accept every vehicle has flaws nothing is perfect, I would never call the 4Runner a piece or say it has severe designs flaws. So I guess what’s your point?

Dude, calm down. Don't be an intransigent jerk to people that aren't having a great experience. We all get that you love your MME. I've been lucky with mine. Others, not so much.

I actually bought my MME used and it was classified as a "lemon". I was assured that Ford fixed the issues and I haven't had too many problems. My biggest issue is that the center console reboots when I'm on a call. I expect Ford to fix it through a firmware update.

1.75 for a wand wash? I wish. The going rate around here is 4.00 for minutes. Which really isn’t enough time to clean the whole car. I could probably get the rear of the vehicle and blow the belt line. So it is more like 7 bucks and no free towels. I have only had my MMe for two months and have gone through an automatic wash three times with no issues. The car wash I use is Russel Speeders. I have used them for many years and have never had an issue with any car at that location.
