My A2Z adapter is arriving on May 22, just in time for my first big road trip to the Minnesota North Shore where there seem to be more Tesla Superchargers than any other kind. By the way, if anyone is interested, I ordered the A2Z on April 26th, so it appears that it takes a bit less than a month from order to delivery (assuming that the UPS delivery is on time).

I've downloaded the Tesla app because the Tesla certificate on my Ford Plug and Charge account has been showing a "Certificate Pending" status for six weeks and never seems to activate itself.... oh well.

The fast shipping sound good. My order took two days just to go from Quebec to Plattsburgh on its way much further south.
The replacement they sent me was overnighted to Seattle. I had it by noon the day after it shipped.

Yes the A2Z is tight for the first 6 uses or so. You must make sure it’s pushed in hard or it won’t fully latch.he
Are folks having the same issues with the Ford made Tesla adapter being hard to push in?

My wife's mother passed away last Sunday and the funeral is tomorrow 340 miles away. My wife wanted to take the Mach-E and we had the A2Z adapter on order but it wasn't scheduled to be shipped until the 20th.

I called @A2ZEV and explained the situation and they overnighted the adapter to us for $15 so right off the bat they were really helpful and wanted to help us with our situation. Last night we went to a Tesla Supercharger to test the adapter and I am glad I did because at first it wouldn't lock, I tried multiple stalls and every one of them just wouldn't lock in. After playing with it for about 30 minutes I found that the charger needed to be inserted into the adapter quickly with a snap or click sound, once that happened the lock could be engaged. After that the charging was seamless, I just plugged into the car and the charge started.

Overall the company is great, the adapter works, the construction is solid and feels substantial with nice texturing, the learning curve on how to connect the adapter is my only complaint with the need to do a quick insert not being called out in the instructions provided.
Good to hear!

After 9 weeks of waiting for some kind of word (other than the words "sorry" and "soon"), I cancelled my Lectron order and put in for A2Z. Hopefully that moves someone else up the list :p

I ordered the same day as you. I did it as soon as Ford told everyone that day they were pushing back delivery of their adaptor.

Apparently, mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, but I’m not counting on it because UPS often likes to say “Delivering Saturday” and it never happens and shows up on Monday.

On a separate note,
I am a bit confused here on the usage. What does “push in quickly” mean? Are people having to forcefully push the Tesla plug into the adaptor for it to latch?

I just did Texas to Oregon with the A2Z adapter, I love having access to many of the SCs and primarily used them during the drive. I had a charging fault a couple times at one station and moved to another and it worked; when I tried a station here in Portland it gave me charge faults on 2 of the stations and I couldn't get anything to activate through the app (might have been user error, first time actually trying the app other than to find stations/confirm compatibility) but my SoC was so low that I bailed and went to an EA site instead.

Great timing all around by Ford/Tesla/A2Z to make it possible to user superchargers; I intend to do a lot more west coast road trips and it seems like we're flush with them here, especially compared to DFW.

I have been told that the Tesla Charge Update for the car isn't necessary. You can initiate a charge through the Tesla App even though your car isn't updated. I don't have an adapter so haven't been able to confirm this, but the others on this forum who told me claimed to have personal experience so I believe them.
Awesome, ill give it a try when i get the adapter. Thanks

Right, the Tesla charge update just makes Plug and charge work with Tesla. If you have a Tesla account and use that to activate, you are just dealing directly with Tesla for payment rather than paying FordPass in order to pay Tesla. ??
Thats great! Thanks for the confirmation.

There is a lot of friction between the Tesla plug and the A2Z adapter. If you push the adapter onto the plug slowly, you’re not likely to get it fully seated and you won’t be able to slide the manual latch. This also seems to vary plug to plug and twice I decided to switch stalls which helped.

So far I've only used my A2Z a couple times to make sure it works. Worked fine both times once I got it seated.

Couple things I've done that seem to help:

1. First, a liberal coating of WD-40 in the Tesla end of the adaptor, and up under the sliding part of the Tesla-end latch. Didn't want any af the flammable carrier anywhere near the electrics, so I did this at night and let it sit in the open in the garage overnight for the carrier to fully evaporate, then put it back in its carrying box and back in the car.

2. Other thing is procedural. Plugging the adaptor into the car, and then plugging the Tesla cord into the adaptor, makes it much easier to get the Tesla cord in far enough to easily move the latch into the lock position. Once charging is done and power is off, I pull the Tesla cord off the adaptor first, then the adaptor off the car.

All in all, I'd rather have it a little snug and and challenging than loose and sketchy.

Some Tesla connectors have become roughened from use, especially being dropped or slid across concrete. This can make it hard to insert and remove. For this reason, it’s good to apply some dry lube to the inside of the Tesla end. Some dry lube on the outside of the other end can help when inserting the adapter into the car, especially with the A2Z adapter (hasn’t been a problem with the Tesla-engineered adapter.

On a separate note,
I am a bit confused here on the usage. What does “push in quickly” mean? Are people having to forcefully push the Tesla plug into the adaptor for it to latch?
Depending on the adapter brand, either connection can be an issue. However, some folks have had issues with the A2Z adapters not seating fully into the Mach E’s CCS inlet, so being sure to insert it quickly and firmly will help assure it clicks into place.

Yes, WD-40 is a highly flammable lubricant. This is why I recommend pure silicone spray or another dry lubricant spray rather than an oil-based spray.

I got mine today and gave it a try. You are right that trying to slowly, yet forcefully push the Tesla plug and adapter together didn’t work. You had to be like Doc from Back to the Future where he is quickly trying to get the wires together in time and quickly snap them together.

Honestly, if I hadn’t read this I probably would have thought something to be wrong.
