I tried searching the forums for this but didn't see anything, so, let's see if anyone else experiences this.

Occasionally, when I start up the car, the navigation system (the one native to the car, not Google Maps or the like) is just... on. And it has chosen a destination, seemingly at random, though it is usually local. And it starts giving me instructions. I have not entered anything in the nav - it does this completely on its own. This happens whether or not my Android Auto has engaged. And the nav icon doesn't even appear in the bar with the other modules/apps that are running (i.e. tire pressure, radio, or whatever). I have to go into the home screen, open the nav which I hadn't open and never open, end the navigation, and close the app.

Anyone else encounter this? If so, anyone have a clue why it happens or how to stop it from happening?

While this has not happened to me, there are numerous posts about the navigation chimes going off when a driver has not set a destination. So, far there has been no word from Ford about this. The only work-around is (as you have done) is to open the navigation system and cancel the route. ?‍♂?

You can send a 'trip' to the car via the FordPass app's navigation. So far every time I've done it, it just doesn't work. But I have the previous owners trips in my Nav. So going out on a limb here, but, if you bought the car used it might be then sending a trip to the wrong car. Or if you've tried to use that in the past it might be finally delivering that trip to your car and not registering it's been received. FordPass is terrible with ownership transfer. Might have to get the BEV team or Fordpass team to stop it.

I ordered and bought the car brand new. I didn't even know you could do the remote nav thing you describe.

I never, ever use the ford nav and this happens to me sometimes. It's not consistent, as far as I've noticed it only happens after navigating to our shore condo in Waze (I use waze for traffic). It seems like it happens the next start after we get there and power off the car; then when I drive to the grocery store or something it seems to come on. Our condo is a "favorite" in waze, but I don't see how that could matter.

I suppose it could be Ford picking up on my driving habits since I drive there a lot...

interesting. Not upcoming trip but there is a "saved" trip that I can't figure out how to delete.

There are lots of features in these cars.

Holy crap. That honestly sounded like such a weird feature to have, I thought you were joking. Why on earth would anyone want the car predicting a destination and then telling you how to get there?

Now I see the setting is just suggesting recent places, which makes more sense but doesn't really explain the nav just turning on independently. I'll give a try with turning that off though. Thanks.

For months after the car was announced in late 2019 that was one of the things that Darrin Palmer (the head of the Mach-E project at the time) touted as one of the features. He would constantly use the example of a driver going to starbucks every thursday and that the car would "learn" this habit and suggest it to you every thursday. I have had that turned off since the first week I got the car in 2021, but it still occasionally tries to send me somewhere when I'm at my condo.
