I have a 2024 Mac EGT bronze edition and it is everything I ever wanted except for the tires. Love the wheel size at 20 inches and the style but the tires are way too thin. Is there any recommendations for a wider tire without having to do anything to the car itself? Don’t know what the max size I could go without having to modify suspension or what not.

I’ve been thinking of wider tires for occasional use too. My initial thoughts:
  • 20x8” Wheels according to some sites can go up to 255/45 R20 (tiny bit wider)
  • Play around on TireRack. They offer a range of 20x8.5” Wheels that accept a wider tire… but call them to ask what offset you need to avoid wheel rub.
  • Ford did a SEMA concept a couple of years ago. It had 265/40 R20 but with different wheels (unknown size). Would be great if Ford offered other wheels. Maybe they do?

If you are married to the stock wheels, a 255 is the widest you can go. ??

If you are willing to change wheels, the largest you can fit up front are 275s on 9.5” rims. I went with a square setup with Continental DWS06+ in 275/40R20 on custom 20x9.5” wheels. @markboris has run many different tire/wheel combinations. I believe he had 305s in back at one point on 10.5” rims. ??

Close Steve! I ran 315/35R20’s in the rear for about 6 months with 275/40R20’s up front. I did have to modify the rear upper shock support to fit those 315’s.

So Danny as Steve said, if you want to change out your wheels, 275/40’s would be the widest you can go square because of suspension limitation up front.

If you want to go wider (in the rear only) most common staggered setup that fits without modification is 265/45 up front and 295/40 in the rear. I’ve run that setup for a couple of years and there are several others here that have done the same.

I can spend hours here talking about wider tires but I did make a thread about staggered setups. It’s an old thread now and I’ve had several other setups since then but never updated it.

Want to know how technical markboris is? Most people would probably say “…on a plane to Europe right now…” at least that is how I have described 30+ years of business air travel until his comment “….in a plane to Europe right now…”

I thought it was a humorous way to state the activity, when in reality my 30 years of “….on a plane at the moment…” is the more humorous statement. Dang it.

well he, you, and all of us do get IN the plane, so "in a plane to Europe" is the correct way. No?
If Mark was on the plane, he would be sitting on the roof, with both legs straddled around the fuselage, like if it was a horse.

But, it's good that you're on this... in this? by this?

'On' is shorthand for on board - you board a plane or a train or a boat or a bus - anything you can stand up in, and you are considered 'on board'. Basically anything that you can move around inside, it is considered boarding versus just entering and being in. Silly grammatical issue with English, because it's such a hodge podge of other languages and crazy rules.

If you are ok with tires that poke out past your fender trim then you can buy their wheels but their offsets between 30-35 has way too much poke for me. My rear wheel offsets have always been around 45-47 even with 295’s so that the tires are flush with the wheel well opening. Plus they don’t mention any wheels in the 21” size which is what I’m running right now.

I agree with Mark on the tire to body line alignment. Here are the specs on my wheels: 20x9.5J, 38mm positive (aftermarket) offset, 5x108 lug pattern, 63.4mm center bore. They fit the 275s flush. ??

And I have the same specs as Steve above on both my 20” and 21” wheels (square setup) except with a 40mm positive offset. My staggered setups have 10.5” wide rear wheels with 47mm positive offsets.
