Never going back to ICE.

Hello all,

I just wanted to start a thread to say this is my first EV. And, I'm never going back to an ICE, at least not for my personal, main daily driver.

Any one else feel the same way?

Felt that way since I bought my 2012 Leaf in 2013. Completely agree.

I never plan to buy another ICE vehicle. I see no reason to. One I get my F-150 Lightning we will be free of any ICEs, vehicle or otherwise.

I agree. I'm planning to replace my Ram 1500 with an EV pickup, in time.

Completely agree…only thing that’ll change my mind is if the infrastructure to support all the EVs that are coming flops.

But we would have picked the MME as an ICE car over all the ICE vehicles we test drove. The MME being an EV was a negative to us when we got it.

Now that we have it that negative is a positive and I don’t see going back.

EVs are so, so much better to drive from a pure enjoyment perspective. Even if costs were the same, I’d go EV every day. I don’t even enjoy driving my wife’s very nice ICE anymore even though it’s a very nice car. I can’t fathom driving a Plaid - I think it would practically ruin every other car for me.

Even though my GTPE is a cpl weeks away, I am old school & still like the ICE sounds/grunts
For me, it’s the best of both worlds for now so I will continue to own both.

I get the reasoning for most of you but I wanted to share my opinion here as well.

Agree for the daily driver, it is fantastic and fun. Also can't beat having a "fuel station" in my garage if all else was equal (costs, carbon footprint, etc).

For now, we keep the family 7 passenger for our road trips, but our other vehicles will be EVs (coming from two hybrids).

I mean, I honestly can't believe that in 2022, we are in the majority still using vehicles that use an exploding liquid under pressure to drive a piston to move a gear that rotates an axle to causes the car to move. Does that seem crazy?

For people who need a car to get from point a to point b, EVs are still waaaaaay too expensive to be mainstream. From a practicality standpoint, my MME is a major step down from my Subaru Outback that was $20,000 cheaper (and was the highest trim level available in 2016). But man, it’s so much more fun to drive and I hate waiting at the gas station for an attendant to pump my gas, as required in Oregon. I don’t think most people can comfortably drop 30k for an Outback…50k+ for an AWD select at this point out the door just isn’t realistic for most people. And don’t get me started on the EV truck game…I cancelled my lightning reservation when I found out the minimum price for an ER battery was 75k and it came with cloth seats, a smaller screen, and no sunroof. The non-EV version is literally 25k less, and that’s before potential markups. For those of us who are car/driving enthusiasts, maybe the price is worth it. For those who aren’t, it just doesn’t seem to be worth it. Almost everyone I know thinks EVs are cool and like my MME, but I’m still the only EV owner of all my friends, family, and coworkers.

This is my 1st EV. It’s 1-hand, not 1PD. My GOM is 4 miles.

My MME is my 1st EV auto. I also have a hybrid.

I felt the same until my GTPE arrived.

Haven’t missed my Chevy SS at all.

Well honestly the only thing I miss is the sound when I started it up. But I haven’t missed driving it. The GTPE is just that much more fun.

I have just a little too much work-related need for a pickup truck that can tow up to about 7,000 pounds a few hundred miles into the back country. So, sadly, I am not ready to move to an electric pickup. Also, none of the truck manufacturers are willing to let me order one at this time.

As soon as I can get a pickup truck that can tow what I need for more than about 400 miles, I'll be all electric.

Well, except my motorcycles, but I would love to be done with ICE entirely.

We replaced the Ford Expedition with the MME, which was originally going to be my daily driver, while my wife continues to drive her MB GL550 until her Taycan CT arrives. However, once she drove the MME, she loved the instant response of the electric motor and unfortunately I was left with the GL550. We also sold our i8 recently, which was pointless to keep. The only other ICE car we have left is the 650s, which will hopefully be replaced by F8 (16 months and counting).
