So I am going to contradict myself. I do usually turn the car off without putting it into Park. However, I have definitely noticed a difference in how the car settles after turning it off, or putting it in Park (which is fairly rare). So whatever is happening, it appears to be happening to my car also.

I like it better, so if it is a bug, I hope they don't fix it.

Great! I think your car is now working like my car (and many others). I really don’t think it is a bug…I do think it is an undocumented, but quite intentional feature.

Q: Do you notice if your ā€œBrakeā€ light illuminates either when you turn it off - or when you get back in the car to turn it on?

I have been out of town since the day of my post…so I have not been able to do more testing.

It is operating exactly as you described. I hear the sound of the break engaging, but the light does not turn on. If I turn off the brake, I hear it disengaging even though I didn't turn it on.

When I turn the car off and back on, the light still does not come on even though the brake is engaged. And I know it is engaged because I can disengage it with the switch. Putting it in park, or turning the car off without putting it in park, automatically engages the brake and no light comes on.

It is very easy to hear it happening in my garage with the door closed.

2021 GTPE when I put to park emergency brake engages no light.
If I turn car off then on light is now on.
If I don’t turn car off light will go on if I pull up on e brake but it’s already engage.
I hope this is a permanent feature only bug I bet is the light no turning on lol

I'm beginning to wonder if those of us that don't have this auto-brake feature are also the people who do their own updates with FDRS. Maybe the OTA version had a different as-built config pushed with it that we didn't get with our FDRS updates?
Yeah I was thinking that too. But my config on the server matches what's on the car still, and other cars like mine. I need to spend more time looking at it, there are some differences vs. the other powertrains.

Mine is still bouncing away off the park pawl and clunking the rear drive unit in the mounts.

Ask and you shall receive

The first time a car ran away in the 25 years we've lived here was on Halloween not long after we bought our house. A car popped out of gear and slowly made its way into the planting strip in front of our house where it nestled up against the house and didn't even crack the stucco. (The parking brake was engaged, otherwise we'd likely have needed a new front porch.) Amazingly we only needed to replace one plant!

This was one of the more destructive times a car ran away. The driver lost control of the car in reverse, ran over (and took out) a tree in front of the blue house, took out the railings in front of the gray house, and then took out the metal railings of the condo on the left. The concrete steps are what finally stopped the car's terror campaign. Luckily no one was hurt. (The car is being winched up by a cable to get to the waiting tow truck.)

Here is the aftermath of the second time the tree in front of our house (the peach colored one) was hit hard. On this occasion the tree stopped the car. On the first occasion (no photos sadly), the car bounced off the street and ultimately came to a stop in the intersection below. Luckily the tree is still doing fine.

Other notable excitement (sadly no photos):
  • A neighbor was being dropped off in the driveway of the house above her house; the driver hit the gas instead of the brake and the car took off down the sidewalk steps and ultimately came to a rest up inside a small tree (nor ours). Getting that thing towed out of there was......interesting. To add to the excitement, my brand new Volvo XC60 was parked just below said tree. Happily it was unscathed and even better, no one was hurt.
  • After loading the kids in the car and pulling onto the street a woman realized she left something in the house. She ran in only to return to the street to see her car screaming down the hill with her two terrified children inside. After hitting numerous cars, the car came to a rest a couple blocks down the hill. Luckily no one was hurt!
  • A load of lumber was being delivered a on a flat bed truck, the driver of which stupidly came up the hill. As he raised the bed of the truck to offload the wood, the bands holding the load together broke and the entire load slid down the street until it stopped at the intersection below. This happened immediately in front of our house. (My wife saw it - I was at work at the time.) Luckily no one was walking up the hill on the street at the time! No one was hurt.
All of the above happened on our block. Amazingly no one was hurt in any of the accidents, but there was a number of fairly close calls. Needless to say there's been much other similar activity throughout the city's steep streets...
Man oh man I don’t miss the city.
Sunset district in the house ?. Stupid silly hills. It was worse at light or stop sign on hill with stick shift focus ?ā€ā™‚ I don’t miss the city, the hills., or the over priced small houses. ?.

To me, it seems regen has been weakened. I normally drive in Engage mode, and out on the L button. That button doesn't have near the effect it used to. I tried Unbridled, and it also has weak regen.

You and others are reporting less regen, but I haven't noticed a difference. I am constantly timing my stops and not using the brake pedal. If the regen changes, I would definitely notice it. So it's very strange that I have not noticed any change but others have.

i park on a hill on my laneway and have always noticed a Parking Break ON notice on the dash. but not when i park at work on level ground. not sure what update this occurred, but haven't noticed anything different. only had my car for about a month. i still flick up the parking break when i park at home bc it's on a hill. it takes it off automatically, and i still flick it off.

I have been out of town, but today I received:
Ford Mustang Mach-E New feature: Automatic parking brake enabled with a recent update IMG_3122

Now when I put it in park I see a message that says something like ā€œParking Brake setā€œ and the word ā€œBrakeā€ now illuminates when it is in park.

Not sure if it was 23-PU0415-BLM-VIS or not…but now it operates as I would expect it to with the ā€œBrakeā€ indicator now on when the car is in park.

Elon must have shared a few secrets with Jim in their meeting about NACS. My car has been updating like crazy this week. 5 updates in 2 day. 3 in one day. I finally made it to 4.2.6 and was excited when I pulled into my garage and put it in park and the parking brake came on. No more awkward rocking. Though after 4.2.6 the car acted strange for the first drive. Regen was gone, it drove like my old Honda Accord. It was very strange. Got a few fault warning as well. Next start regen was back so no big deal.

Not sure that the brake indicator actually always turns on. Seems to be consistently inconsistent.

The brake light is supposed to come on or we are finding vehicles that have bad incline sensors lol

Job 1 2021 owner here. Mine now does this, also. Every time. With the windows down, I can clearly here it engaging when I shift to "P".
And like others, I've noticed the red "BRAKE" indicator on the IPC doesn't illuminate when this happens, unless I manually pull the parking brake lever again. I'd rather the BRAKE indicator came on as soon as it does this "auto" EBrake.
