Will something like this be a decent choice in the future? I know little about tires except I bought a car in December once that had "do not drive if temps are below 50" that was fun trying to explain my wife why I needed new tires day one.
Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus All-Season
Hard to find full specs on Pirelli's site. It doesn't look like the weight rating is adequate for our heavy ponies. ;)

Hello everyone!

Just ordered my Mach-e Premium and as I am not a big fan of OEM tires, was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Nitto NT421Q? Discount Tire recommends them as replacement tires but I am hoping to get some real world feedback.
Thanks!
I've been poking around quite a bit on tires and I've seen the Nitto's come up but haven't really seen much about them compared to some of the more popular tires. In one of the discussions about switching to 235 width tires, I believe someone mentioned they had 235/50/19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires installed.

Pirelli typically makes exceptional tires. One thing they don't do is all-weather so in the colder temps say below 40 there may be other tires that outperform theirs. I think in the 225/55/19 they currently make a p7 and maybe winter. I like to check out the tire rack for reviews and specs

That‘s true for any performance three season or summer tire but the Scorpion line is generally for trucks/SUVs so cold weather performance should be fine. We have Scorpions (a different version than in the OP) on my wife’s Lexus RX Hybrid and they have been quite good, including a trip to Oklahoma last year during ice storm conditions. I would definitely consider a set for the Mach E if looking for that style of tire, assuming proper rating of course.

My 90s Land Rover Range and Discovery both had Scorpions and I liked them (but a bit pricey back then).

Anyone have any experience with wider tires on the OEM rims (19x7" rims)? OEM tire size is 225/55/R19 XL . What sizes would be compatible without adverse affects (bulging or load issues)?

On a 7" diameter wheel, you want to keep the tire size between 195 and 225. You may be able to go a smidge wider or narrower as each manufacturer's tire width is going to be slightly different. I really don't think anything wider than 235 is going to be doable on a 7" wheel.

Best practice is to check the "tread width" on a site like tire rack. You want to be within 0.5" of the wheel width. So a 7" wheel could work with a tread width of 6.5-7.5". The lower side of that scale is more forgiving. The 7.5" on a 7" wheel is as far as I'd be willing to stretch.

Thank you! So I would be able to use 235/55/R19's? or would I need 235/50/R19's?

the 50 or 55 is entirely up to your taste. That is just the aspect ratio that tells you how high the sidewall is going to be as compared to the tire width.

Which tire, specifically, are you wanting to use? Not all 235 tires are the same tread width. The tread width is your limiting factor. And that is something that can be difficult to find. Hence why I recommend looking it up on Tire Rack website.
