I’m actually glad to hear other MME owner’s having a brake issue, because I got the brush off when I took mine in for service. And hopefully when enough owners complain they will escalate the issue. Mine is so noisy on any incline up or down applying brakes get a loud noise (hard to describe) but doesn’t seem right. It’s pretty embarrassing! this beautiful car making this horrible noise. Did try the shifting into neutral on hard stop to clean rotors as suggested here, doesn’t last long and sound comes back. So frustrating to have spent this much $$ on a car with such an annoying flaw! Can anyone attest to hearing any noise like this from a Tesla or Leaf or any other electric car for that matter? I welcome any comments or fixes anyone would like to share.

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

There is no flaw (unless you have a early 2021 vehicle with pads that were deemed defective). The flaw is in the user (i.e. MME owner) not understanding that when using regenerative braking, the pads barely get used. Therefore, when they get wet, they rust. It's up to the owner to notice that, with their eyes and ears, and take steps to remedy it (shift to N and brake as you noted). If you don't get them wet, it's a long time in my experience before you hear anything.

I had something similar happen. It turned out to be a piece of rock stuck between the rotor and the dust shield.
I actually had this same thing happen a couple years ago 2 weeks after I had bought a new F-150. Fucking gravel...

I have had a similar grinding/squealing sound in my right front brake. I can only reproduce it in very warm weather. Hot weather, over 100 degrees, will be loud enough for the drivers next to me to look over. Only in the front right brake, and does not happen all the time. Seems to be heat related.

Dealership has twice fixed the front brake shudder (TSB 22-2203), but did not replace the pads either time and ignored my complaint about the right front brake grinding until I demonstrated it to a tech, then they told me all the Mach-E's do that. I noticed they did not document any of the details I gave about reproducing the issue or details on how they tested my car and other MMEs to come up with that answer.

It only happens when applying brakes manually, i.e. with 1-pedal turned off or braking beyond regenerative braking. Opened an incident with Customer relations, but it was closed because I had picked up the car. (I had decided 3 weeks was enough time to not get anything done).

Next summer when it happens again, and when the shudder comes back again, I will give them another shot before going to a real brake shop.

Note: I have a 2021 Mach-E 4x AWD
