2025 GT with performance. Picked it up new in June and currently has 1,500 miles. Weather has been great and driving with windows down. But in this “wherring”!sound normal. Never heard (noticed) it before

When I shift it out of park (no sound) into neutral, drive, or reverse, it starts.

Video taken in garage this morning.

That is Mach-E's Pedestrian Alert System sound. There is a speaker under the car in front that makes that sound when you go 18 mph or less. Also when you shift to reverse, you will get a backup beeping sound. It sounds much louder because you are in your garage with the windows down.

From the Ford manual:

Due to the quiet nature of vehicles operating in electric mode, pedestrians may not be aware of the presence and operation of the vehicle, thus risking potential injury to pedestrains. The pedestrian alert system provides an audible sound from a front mounted speaker to indicate to pedestrians that the vehicle is approaching in forward or reverse ranges at vehicle speeds between 0-30 km/h (0-18 mph).

Many thanks. I hear the reverse beeping even not in garage, but this was new. Makes perfect sense.
thanks for the quick reply

You can definitely hear the reverse beeping no matter where you are and with the windows up but the normal forward pedestrian sound is fairly muted from the inside when you are on the road with the windows up. There are quite a few here that have disabled this sound and one that has actually added a volume control but I won't mention any names..... 😊

Question out of curiosity only. Is there a year that the under 18 mph alert sound started? I’m in US with an early build 23 select. I don’t think mine makes a sound?

In 2020, all hybrid and EV's were required by the federal government to have a Pedestrian Alert System. Every Mach-E from day one as far as I know has the same system with the same sound.

My 23 Premium makes a similar sound.

It is a little lower pitch I think.
