So, incompetent then.

I'd say at this point it's unlikely you'll even get a 2021 model year.
I'm starting to wonder the same thing. When I asked on this forum last October I was told a "guesstimate" of between April to June 2021 for the current year Mach E. I fervently hope this is true and I do not have to wait for a 2022. And I don't think the GM is incompetent; he was ignorant of the situation as was I until I became a member of this forum.

Since receiving the eMail last night telling me my finished Mach E would be sitting somewhere between Kansas City and my dealer for an additional two months, I've spent much of the day stewing and regretting my purchase. I've also vowed not to even bother reading the forum to avoid speculation for answers we will likely never know. While I undoubtedly dislike the dealership purchase model, after ordering my last three cars, I can honestly say that hasn't been any more satisfying. That's not a dig against Ford as I've now ordered three different cars from three different manufacturers. None of them were able to meet commitments made. All have suffered from being able to be transparent about the process, though I credit my Mini salesperson for doing the best job of the three.

When I think about the previous three cars that I bought off the lot, my overall satisfaction with the car was improved because it didn't come with missed expectations from the start. It earned those all on its own over the lifecycle I owned it. So for me, the MME will probably be the last car I ever order. If a dealer doesn't have what I want in stock, then it's not meant to be. I'll hate the negotiation and purchase process, but at least I can control the duration of the ride.

Time to get off the roller coaster.
I keep seeing reservation holders still having to wait for their car. BUT you can go to the lot and buy any of the models? i would have thought they would go to reservation holders before going to dealers to sell. At least in seattle area can get any model at least at msrp. some dealers trying to charge a premium but why pay a premium when you can somewhere else with out premium. wait just a bit longer and should be able to get them below msrp.

We don’t all have that luxury.

UPDATE: Last week my dealer got my VIN and tentative production date of 5/24/2021; I still have heard nothing from Ford. I was very glad to finally get my VIN but disappointed with the production date being three more months away! This weekend I was made aware of a Premium IB with AWD and ER battery and Space Grey interior (basically, my car without the protection package). However, the car was advertised at $61,200 as the MSRP which of course it's not. The dealer had added $5,000 to the price (ADM) and advertised it as the MSRP. I put the VIN number in our VIN tracker and got the real MSRP and also who the car was originally produced for. When I called to inquire about the car I asked if they would sell it using the X-Plan (knowing full well they wouldn't) and the GM said no. Today I received a text telling me they would sell the car at the real MSRP ($56,200) plus $1495 for the ceramic coating they had placed on the car/upholstery and wondered if I'd be interested. I told them no, that I had purchased my own ceramic coatings for the paint and the Active X upholstery for a little over $200 and am going to apply this myself as the car is brand new and will require minimal preparation. And I told them I wanted the car on the X-Plan (which they again refused). It would have been nice to get my car now but not $7,000 plus nice. The dealer did just what we all knew he would and tacked on an additional cost when somebody cancelled their order. I'll wait and take the deal I originally negotiated even though it means waiting 3 - 4 more months for my Mach E. Although I have bought every car I've ever owned off the lot, I ordered this one (and will never do that again). However, in this case it saved me quite a lot of money which I traded for the heartache of this ordering process.

I completely agree, but I see where it would have been challenging unless they were sticking to just folks with orders from the same dealership. I was a bit disappointed my dealer never offered their declined order to me, even if I would have declined that specific color.

They have been tacking in ADM even when you receive the car you ordered. You may want to get in writing that they won't add ADM. If they do change dealers now.

Not sure how the demand for MME is your area - perhaps the dealer will come back at MSRP. But yeah 6K is excessive . Even if you cant get it at Xplan but if they do it at MSRP its only about 900 difference which may be worth it compared to 4 months wait. But that is if they come back at MSRP.

He DID come back to MSRP! Then he told me that there was the ceramic add on for $1495 which ruined me accepting the deal (in addition to not accepting the X-Plan). So if you add $1500 + $1124 it would have been $2624 more than the deal I currently have. That still was more than I was willing to pay. I was considering accepting his offer when he came down to MSRP but the add on was the deal breaker (not even considering the X-Plan).

We are picking up our Mache today. I did have to pay MSRP but in the long run got just the car I wanted. I had ordered a premium but wanted a FE from the start, one came available and worked out a deal.

If you don’t want to wait, you can get a car now off the lot that meets your basic configuration. There aren’t that many different builds to choose from. But you may not find the exact interior/exterior colors you want, you may be flying halfway across the country to get it, and you will most likely not be getting xplan or even MSRP.

There are so many unfulfilled orders that I think it is going to take at least 6 more months, or fantastic luck, before you can get what you want off the lot without ADM.

I’d love to have dozens of these to choose from on local lots, and get a price better than x-plan, but that’s not gonna happen anytime soon.

This is why I went ahead and placed an order in early February 2021 just to hop in line. Confirmed xplan pricing with the dealer, in writing. I’m ok with waiting, especially while ironing out some of these first run teething issues.

Wait... So your dealer is accepting the x-plan on your order but not for the cat on the lot they tried to sell you? Interesting. I had assumed that dealers either had to be all in or all out with x-plan pricing based on what I had read on the Mach E forums. I didn't realize they pick and choose whether it not to honor it for each individual car sale. That's disappointing.

No, you misunderstood; not the same dealer. My dealer where I ordered the car is Terry's Ford of Peotone and they accepted the X-Plan (2% off MSRP). My car is ordered there but not scheduled until week of May 24th (I've already waited 4 months now because it was ordered in October). The dealer (Willowbrook Ford) who has the same car (I have on order) on their lot will NOT accept the X-Plan and added $5,000 to the MSRP ($56,200) and advertised it at $61,200. I talked them back down to the MSRP but they wanted to add $1495 for a ceramic coating as a dealer add on and I refused that. If you add the $1124 savings from the X-Plan and the ceramic coating add on of $1495 it is $2,619 MORE than the car I have on order and I'm not willing to pay that. I was willing to negotiate and see if I could get the price down a little more since they wouldn't budge on accepting the X-Plan but my wife had a fit if I paid more for the car just because I'm tired of waiting. In the end it didn't matter because they also wouldn't budge on the dealer add on so the difference was just too great AND more importantly, my BOSS said NO!

I've decided that I'll just wait unless another dealer in Illinois gets the same exact car and doesn't try to jack up the price (which I don't hold out any hope for). And I don't want a price better than the X-Plan, I just want the X-Plan's 2% off MSRP and no dealer add ons.
