OTA Updates - What triggers them?

It says revision 713 and my hands-free is good till 2074 that’s good lol
Yes that is really old and won’t show bars. Make sure arrows are showing and hopefully you will start getting OTAs.

So how do I update that and since it’s not gonna show the bars and I have the arrows going up and down should I just go out there and leave the car running for a half hour right now?

My last OTA was August, 2023.

My wife’s Lincoln Aviator doesn’t get OTA. Instead you download the updates on a usb drive and install then yourself.

OTA updates are more convenient……. When they work. I wish we had the USB download option. It’s free and it works.

I don't think USB is capable of updating all modules though.
My Powerboost has 42 modules. I haven't counted how many the 2023.5 GTPE has, but certainly some are not reachable by the USB network.

I haven't had an OTA update since August. AT&T reception is good and my car is connected to Wi-Fi most of the time. I also have it scheduled for updates at 10 am daily when it is out of the garage and charged the lvb up after commute. Will try turning off Wi-Fi per video.
Schedule is to apply already downloaded updates.

I keep my car connected to WiFi, off in the driveway and connected a 15/3 amp 12 volt charger to the 12 volt battery, my 6/2 amp 12 volt charger wasn't enough! The 12 volt battery has to be approximately 70% charge or higher to get OTA updates. You can go to your Ford account and check the charge level of the 12 volt (if you don't have an account yet, sign up).
As you can see my 12 volt is at 92%.
Hopefully after my dealer gets the parts in and does the recall work this won't be necessary anymore.

Isn’t that 92% charge the HVB not the 12volt?

It's supposed to be the HVB SoC, but there is a bug on the web page so it is showing the LVB SoC. One day they will fix it, and they won't tell us. It will just be fixed and back to normal. But for now, it does show the LVB. Fun!

Definitely trying your tips, but I’ve had the problem of the arrows that go up and down communicating with Ford disappearing like every other time I start the car and I either have to wait about a half hour and go back out and try it again cause I’m not gonna start pulling fuses like I did before But I have full bars on my phone for AT&T
Check this thread. Everyone with the problem had it started after the radio preset update (check if your last one is 23-PU0110-RAD-PS). This update introduces an error on the Ford server side, essentially stopping all OTA for us.

I went for 100 mile drive this morning and I had the up-and-down arrows indicating communicating with the Ford connected services I guess. I don’t know if that’ll trigger an update later in the week. I think I read somewhere they don’t do updates on the weekend? I used the built-in navigation this time as well. I wanted to see how it worked, wasn’t bad. I didn’t have to navigate to many charging stations, but I did set it up to navigate back to the one where I live. But the little Up and down arrows that you see on the top of your display. I also noticed them down in the bottom right corner of the navigation map. I’m not sure what that was even not even navigating to us. It had him down there. I’m guessing they were the same thing?
