First six months using PAAK has been no issue for the wife and I in our 23.5 Premium long range. But, over the last month, our 12v doesn’t make it more than a few days requiring me to plug the car in despite HVB generally above 50-60%. Finally got in to the dealership last week who tested the 12v saying it was fine but showed me my bluetooth connection. On my phone, there were two separate connections, the one I am used to seeing that connects to the MME sync for Apple CarPlay etc and another that was titled using the last few digits of the VIN. This second one, was constantly connecting for about ten seconds then disconnecting. While connected, it didn’t allow normal info like forget this device. Because we work from home, our car is generally always within a hundred feet of one of our phones and the tech believed this was the cause of our 12v drain.

In the Ford app we deleted both PAAKs and our 12v has not dropped below 86% in just over a week seemingly fixing our issue. Anyone else experienced this? Any idea why it would suddenly start?

Your phone was somehow pinging the car too much. I also WFH, PaaK, car always near by, I have the 2 bluetooth connections, that is how it works. But in your case your phone was bugging the car too much. Sounds like you have an iPhone? i dont support those, just android :). But maybe you have another app pinging the car status? A smart charger, or a state electric monitor? Or there is a setting on your phone about its refresh on app data for that. Just a few things to check, something is wrong though as many of us do what you do and have no issues.

Set your max charge to 80% and plug in every day and stay plugged in. There is no advantage to running the battery down and filling it all at once like you would an ICE fuel tank.
The owners manual leads me to believe this practice is encouraged for standard range and discouraged for long range batteries due to the longterm battery health impacts.

nothing added to the car or plugged into the car or additional car apps. Very possible an Apple update caused it but then I would expect many are seeing it. Clearly enough people with the issue the tech knew to look for it.

Where does it say that? The owners manual recommends limiting daily charging to 90%. So charging to 80% every day certainly isn't discouraged.

I turn off Bluetooth on my phone when I am home.... no problem with LV battery (3+ years now) since my MME 'sleeps soundly'. My office is right next to garage, and I am in and out of garge many times per day.

I usually charge for a few hours every couple days to keep HV between 50%-90%, and then at least once a month I leave it to charge to 100% overnight.

The LV SOC does vary significantly day to day, especially if you take only short trips as the vehicle 'stays awake for 10 minutes or so each time after you stop, and is consuming close to 100-200 watts for those ten minutes. If you leave your vehicle 'on' for an hour (with auto-off disabled), you'll see the HV charge the LV back up to about 85%-90%

I have done some semi-kinda-scientific-not-official testing, and with PAAK off, my quiescent average 12v battery use over 24 hours with the phone near enough to stay connected is higher than we really want. I can't remember exactly, but somewhere around 70+ mA. I turned off bluetooth on my phone and kept it off, and the average dropped down into the 20s' mA.

So when PAAK is ON and connected, it does use more mA than we would want. My house is small enough that I pretty much always stay connected.

The features of PAAK are such that I want to keep it on, so I have been turning off bluetooth when at home. It is hardly ideal, but I am trying to do that. Ugh.

Just plug-in every day when you get home and this will not be an issue.
It’s like having a full tank of fuel every day!

80% is the sweet spot. If you have a decent home L2, you can be ready for a 100% road trip in about ~2-hrs.

Manual used to say 80%. They changed it to 90% later on. I do 85% and split the difference. None of which will make a darn bit of difference when Ford reserves such a large buffer on either end of the battery pack.

exactly. Plus, we’re leasing.?
Still, I love this car, and I take very good care of it. Everything I have seen so far, including the reports from my Diablo sports monitor that charging to 100% every day does not do any appreciable damage that I can see after almost a year

But was the Tech's solution just to disable PaaK? That is not a solution, and in general I have found the Ford staff on topics like this to be less helpful.

I have deactivated PAAK because my MME reported several times "battery drain" issues. Had several times update issues and discovered that my 12v battery level was always low. I have no USB device attached or something. Since I deactivated PAAK my 12v battery level is always high and all updates went through.

My car is parked within my house, so my android phone continually tried to connect to the car - I didn't find any solution to reduce the distance of detection so my only solution was zo deactivate PAAK.

If someone found a better solution, I'm listening.

Just to verify, the charge level indicated on the Ford Account Dashboard is the 12V battery charge, not the HV battery, right? I wish they would label it as such!

If so, my 12V seems to be consistently a little on the low side lately (currently sitting at 66%). I've been spending a lot of time in the garage over the past few days and haven't charged in about a week. Wondering if PaaK has anything to do with the charge level.?

The 12V optimization OTA wil fix some of these issues. The main problem is welcome lighting. I suggest you disable that first. If you're still getting a lot of 12V drain, then disable Bluetooth on your phone or PAAK until you get the OTA.
