Same happened to me, FOB comes in handy. Check if the car's Bluetooth connectivity is still enabled - it may say it is on but it may not be broadcasting. OTA PowerUp 1.6.0 disabled connectivity in my car even though it said it was still on. You have to turn Connectivity off then back on from the vehicle control screen, then remove the PaaK from inside the car, then from your phone, and then re-pair the phone and re-enable PaaK. I have detailed this in other threads.
hmmm.. have not tried this.. Thanks for the suggestion.

Meh...at least your app works at the moment. After the update two days ago, all I get is the Ford logo, then back to home screen. The phone also gets rather warm when trying to access the app so I can only assume the app update didn't download properly. Here's hoping you get your issue worked out to your satisfaction, though.

Strange thing is the car lights flash when I get close, it recognizes my phone but the doors don’t unlock.

I used to only rarely have 'no key' and other PaaK issues. But it has become a lot more common after the last update.

I have learned a few tricks ... I'm always able to make it work. Sometimes I disable/re-enable Bluetooth on the phone. Sometimes I open FordPass and send a remote-start command (which usually wakes things up). But it used to mostly just work for me.

So, having had our MME since Valentine's Day (FEB 2021)... we have been one of the few who have had little to no issues with PAAK. That all changed over the last week. Not sure if FORD, like Apple, pushes firmware or software without owner's consent.. but...

Our PAAK is now BRICK (No Key detected)for: Push Button open , or Start Button

Neither phone is recognized by the car. And while the car says No Key Detected.. we are forced to use our APP or Door Code to unlock the car and our backup password to Start.

Seriously, we have been very conservative and happy with the car.. but to suddenly not be able to use the '1' Item they preach... I shake my head.

I know "Stuff Happens".. and it always happens to us... but this is the one time I did NOT intentionally anger the Power-that-BE or 'Murphy'...

UGGH
My phone suddenly refused to start the Fordpass app. It is an IPhone 8. This is just after a recent app update. No luck from a phone restart. So I had to delete the app and reinstall. Thanks to @ChasingCoral I knew I needed to delete all the PAAK keys in the car, took a couple of minutes to find where to do it by looking it up in the manual . Luckily I had my extra fob with me as I was 200 mi away from the fob in my wife’s purse. Reinstalling Paak was easy. The moral of the story, don’t leave home without it, if rescue is difficult

I tend to wonder if Bluetooth isn’t the culprit. Although my MME hasn’t been built, my Mini Cooper randomly displays ‘Bluetooth deactivated’ for no apparent reason. At times I’ll start the car, and either the podcast, music, or SiriusXM that I had last been listening to will automatically start playing. Then I make a quick stop, run into a store, return to the car, and get hit with the dreaded disconnect message. Bluetooth requires a ‘handshake’ between devices that may for some reason can get tripped up. Just a theory, but seems plausible.

I think that many of the issues with PAAK are not Ford issues at all, but rather, are the results of the various constraints and idiosyncrasies of Bluetooth.

I can get on board with this theory for PaaK. The FordPass suddenly refusing to operate may also be the problem. My working theory is that the app tries to contact the Ford servers on start up and at various points in operation. If it doesn't get the response it's looking for, it crashes. Of course if FP isn't happy/operational then PaaK is dead in the water. I have no way to test this theory right now because (knock on wood) FP is working normally. OP may be able to give this a shot though. Try turning on airplane mode and only enabling BT. Then open FP.

It might take wiping your key and setting it back up again from scratch. It help fix it on my car when I did that once.
I wish ford would add in full apple car key support and just go with that route

The issues you just started having I had for the last 3 weeks I got the car. Since you have iPhone's this was posted on one of the sites about creating shortcuts to start or shut off the car, unlock and lock car, car range and where is your car. I followed these instructions in order and it works the one thing you have to do after you follow the instructions is go in to your iPhone setting-shortcuts-advanced and turn on "Allow Running Scripts" Once you are done you can say Hey Siri...start my car as a example in to your phone or Apple Watch and it works. Much better than standing at the car and pushing the button multiple times and not having it open.

I have a Ford Escape that uses the FordPass app which allows me to start/stop, lock/unlock my car along with viewing a bunch of other information about my car but Ford hasn’t added Siri Shortcuts support and probably won’t anytime soon. I’ve been doing occasional searches to see if someone had come up with a solution until recently I came across this post that mentions using the code in the linked repository to control your car using Siri. There wasn’t a clear explanation on how to get that code working with Siri so I went ahead and reverse engineered the code and built out a set of Shortcuts that anyone can use and modify to their needs.

I tried making these modular so it’s easy for someone to jump in and grab what they need and possibly expand on my work if there’s something the API returns that I didn’t write a shortcut for with minimal effort.

Required Shortcuts: Install the next three in order and run each one as you go along to ensure you have your settings correctly filled out. The rest of the shortcuts build on top of these 3 so once they’re working, you should be good to go for the rest.

FordPass Settings (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/9bc1eb69fef84afebdf14c1e26db2166) - This sets up your account information as well as the VIN of the car you want to control. It also includes hardcoded values for clientId and applicationId which were pulled from the git repository.

Get FordPass Token (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/16b5984efea8462e9897c1e58a8d9560) - This uses your login credentials and returns an auth token.

Get Vehicle Status (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/75dfc5615d1f43e485866c12661b0e8d) - This returns a detailed JSON containing a large amount of information about your car and is used in many of the shortcuts below. I only built shortcuts that every vehicle should support but if you run this on it’s own, it outputs the JSON so you can look through what else is available.

Feature Shortcuts:

Start My Car (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/52e05449cdc24596959dca93ee6bf20c) - This will send a start command to your car but will not guarantee the car actually started. It typically takes 15-30 seconds before your car will actually start but you can check if it is running using the “Is My Car Running?” Shortcut below.

Stop My Car (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/4f8d3221632c4a8095cf8e9d66eeb6a5) - This will stop your cars remote start

Is My Car Running?(https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/99105621a5b2406f91ef49ce173c9661) - This will let you know whether or not your car is running due to a remote start command.

Lock My Car (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ba30bb2568f141a5b096a3b6ca377e76) - Locks your car

Unlock My Car (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ab6172c868094a84b6f7d6a982959d7e) - Unlocks your car

Is My Car Locked? (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ac1656d2cd9c411589cdbd413df67f17) - This will let you know if your car is locked or unlocked

What Is My Cars Range? (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/5c5bf7fc8cbd4e17893f5c36475cb437) - Range left in miles

How Many Miles Are On My Car? (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/254d268ba9df4e84b93380894dfe5567) - Odometer reading in miles

What Is My Cars Oil Life? (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c4eb2605a4fa4b8fb1fa8fd16541c965) - Oil life as a percentage

Where’s My Car? (https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/cc151cb9229a49119814bd72b981be7b) - This opens Apple Maps with a pinned location of your car

Notes:

This may only work in the US based on the API naming but I would assume these could be updated with the corresponding regional APIs if someone can find them

These may also work on Lincoln Vehicles but someone with a Lincoln would have to confirm that

You may have to run each shortcut manually the first time to set up permissions

The Ford APIs may change/disappear at anytime and may not always be reliable

These will not work if you use the MyFord app to control your car

Special thanks to /u/d4v3y0rk who did most of the leg work in figuring out the APIs needed to get this working.

If anyone needs help getting these running, has questions on how these work, or wants help adding onto these shortcuts, let me know and I can try my best to assist.

So your iPhone is the BRICK?
no. the phone and APP are fine. just the software integration the car has to my phone. PAAK is primarily controlled by the car from what I've been able to learn.
