PAAK works great. Until it doesn’t. It’s better than it was three years ago. But it isn’t nearly as reliable as the fob, and never will be. I put up with the mediocrity because I don’t like carrying keys. Your mileage may vary. That about sums it up.

PAAK was really good for me for 2 years up until a few weeks ago. I think it was actually an apple update that broke it. I did the latest a few days ago hoping they fixed what was broke but it didn’t. If I reboot my phone it works for only for a little while.

I also had PAAK issues yesterday, 3/23/24. Restarting Bluetooth on my Android phone fixed it but it was the first time PAAK failed in quite some time.

My failed today for some reason. I was going to wipe the phone from PAAK but a phone restart solved the issue quickly. Good thing there's a manual door code and start password just in case.

PAAK is like a beautiful woman. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it goes a little crazy. And you’ve gotta decide if it’s worth putting up with.

It's March Madness for PaaK. Mine's been asking up this month too. But as of this past weekend it's finally stabilized again. Also, the car lost my backup passcode and I set it up again then it lost it again and I set it up yet again and it now seems to be sticking. I'm on Android 14 beta, FP5 beta, 6.14.0 Powerup.

I also discovered over the weekend that my MME wifi wasn't listing any networks. The list of wifi networks was just empty. I disabled and re-enabled wifi and it would just never list the networks. I ended up disconnecting the MME 12V battery for 1 minute and after the car came back up, wifi works again.

It's unclear to me if the 12V reset was specifically related to improved PaaK function...but it didn't hurt.

Just sharing in case it helps anyone.

I've had my car for about 6 months. Generally PAAK has worked fairly seamlessly. One time, I had to delete and re-add it and I have gotten used to not carrying the fob around...as its nice to have one less thing to keep track of and carry in my pocket. I went out to start to go to an appointment and I kept getting the orange error "no key in car" or something like that. I tried closing ford pass and turning blue tooth off and on and tried turning my phone off and on...no dice. Luckily, I don't work far from home and my wife can bring a fob over for me. I know this issue has come up repeatedly but I guess the lesson for the moment is that it makes sense to just grab the Fob and take it with me. If there any other tips and tricks to get the car to wake up and recognize my phone when this errors appears, I would love help.

Thx!
I also have had issues with PAAK on my 2023 Mach E select. I happen once when I was charging. I came back to the car and unhook the charger got in my car, but it would not start. said " no key was detected'" Since getting the fob was not a option I just tried turning on the remote climate with Fordpass and it worked. The car turned on and I was able to drive home. Thank God cause my phone battery was going to die. This happened one other time and it worked again.

But the most recent event was that my car locked me out. I was again charging the car at my work and when I unlocked the car with my phone(PAAK) and put all my stuff (including the phone on the charger pad) and shut the driver door so I could unhitch the charging cable. When I went to open the driver door it was locked. This time I did have to go and home to get the fob to drive the car home. Luckly, I don't live far from work. I don't know if the car has a cycle and every few cycles it has to have the Fob used to refresh the system. I didn't know it was possible to lock a PAAK in the car. Will a Ford push button start vehicle lock with the Fob in the car.

Lesson learned I now have access to the keypad # on my iWatch and have ford pass on it as well.

Not really tricks, but here's what I do. Never fails.
  1. Use PAAK first. It always works for me, has not failed in over 3 years, except for a couple weeks when there was an Android problem. I sometimes have to open the FordPass app on my phone, but not very often, and that always gets it to work.
  2. Have a door code and backup start passcode. I have not had to use them in years, but sometimes I do use them just because it seems faster or easier than getting my phone out and opening the app. Years ago, I also had the problem with the passcode entry screen refusing to appear, but that has not happened to me in ages - possibly because I am running a very old, relatively stable software version (3.5.3). It seemed like Ford had fixed that problem back in 2022, but somehow it came back for some people with later software updates.
  3. Hide a key in the car with no battery in it, and not too close to the secret key slot. If all else fails (except the door code) that should start the car. I never have to use the key, and never have to call for a key courier due to a PAAK failure.
