I got further than before but hit a wall when it told me that I had too many devices set up. It had 4 with the name of my old phone supposedly connected. 4 devices is the max it said. I must of done this trying multiple times to set up PAAK.

So I tried to delete them multiple times and ways.

I was taken to the devices connected and hit the garbage can delete icon. That just started the perpetual spinning circle and did not delete anything. It never completed and I waited a long time.

I also went to the control screen and went to the delete the PAAK screen. Hit delete all PAAKS. It said it was successful but when I went back to the Ford App all the 4 were still there.

While fussing around in the connectivity screen I saw that I have not set up my car as a WIFI hot spot. Do I need to enable and connect the cars WIFI for the PAAK to function properly ?
Did you get an error message during setup or did the setup process time out? It sounds like your vehicle is having connectivity issues over cellular. You might want to PaaK reset in a different location. Do you have good cellular coverage where your vehicle is parked?

Update: Got my new iPhone 14 pro.

I spent probably 45 minutes trying to set up PAAK.

It failed to set up.

I had the phone Bluetooth connected.

between your phones (old and new), FordPass, and your car it appears you're in a weird state so lets make sure you've cleared of any baggage before trying to setup PaaK again.

in FordPass, go to the Vehicle tab, scroll down to the "Features & Settings" drop down, click on the "V" and you should see "Key List" as one of the options. there are 4 allowed and i'll guess you might have them full - you can delete them by clicking the trash can and following the prompts. from your message above it looks like you tried this before so you might try deleting one at a time, exiting the app and then go back in to see if it actually gets deleted. if the first stays deleted go ahead and delete each of them and then confirm they are deleted by exiting the app and go back in to check again.

next, in your MME go to the settings screen, select "General", then select "Reset", then "Ford Connect Reset", and the "Phone as a Key Reset" should be an option. select it and follow any prompts.

this should clear out FordPass' and MME's past knowledge of any earlier PaaK setup attempts.

now go back to FordPass on your phone and try setting up PaaK again and make sure to follow all of the prompts.

While fussing around in the connectivity screen I saw that I have not set up my car as a WIFI hot spot. Do I need to enable and connect the cars WIFI for the PAAK to function properly ?
no, the WiFi hotspot is an added feature to allow others to use your car as a hotspot. usually a tablet, computer or other phones. ford gives you a complimentary period (30 days i think) to use it but it is a subscription after that.

Update: I woke up this morning and had a message on the Ford app that a reset of all the keys (4) was performed and have been deleted!

It only took 2 days for this to happen...?

Now that they have been cleared I will try to set up PAAK again today.

Looks like I have a clean slate.

Wish me luck!!!

SUCCESS!!!

I tried again last night and failed again.

today I drove to my local Ford dealership and asked for help.

the older sales guy shuffled me off to a young man.

He got it set up for me. Did a good job.

I educated him on some of the quirks and features that he didn’t know about. He thanked me for the information and told me when he uses the puddle lights in his sales pitch he will remember me…
