I was doing some tests w/ PAAK's presence detection for allowing unlock and I'm shocked at the results. The vehicle considers the phone 'present' when inside a structure and 20' away. I've gotten it to extend to 26' sitting next to a 6" drill bit likely due to the unintentional radiator effect (in a structure). I'm not sure if some of their "fixes" included a lower signal floor for activation or what. The phone used for this test is an S21 -- BT performance may vary by device. If you have situations where the phone and vehicle proximity may present a situation for this to occur, I suggest you test your vehicle operation with the phone sitting in different locations. A cat walking along the rear bumper and activating the tailgate kick switch alerted me that something wasn't as it should be. The phone was 16' from the vehicle on the couch.

(to clarify, this is passive phone operation as it'd be in your pocket, not manipulating fordpass buttons)

What do you mean by “considers present”?
You should not be able to enter the car unless within 1 meter.

Present as in the vehicle thinks you're at it with the phone. What's supposed to happen and what does is radically different! I have 2 different rooms in my current abode where the phone will allow the vehicle to open without hesitation. Crazy

Spent nearly 30 minutes going back and forth with different positions trying to find a "safe" spot for it. Unfortunately the only safe bet is to turn off BT entirely :(

Can also verify PAAK works at 20' range to unlock doors with my iPhone 12. Fobs only work 3' away for comparison.

You should probably disable Bluetooth or quit FordPass at night if you park outside and your phone is within 25' of the Mach-E.

Interesting. I tested mine out by standing near my front door. The approach lights on the car were on. I had my wife outside try to open the driver’s door but it was locked.

I'd already disabled welcome lighting due to it constantly turning on. Without touching the phone, simply walking around would change the signal levels enough to turn it on.

Because of the nice weather, I am often sitting in the Lazyboy in the RV with the screen door. It's crazy how without any rhythm that I have discovered, the car will light up as though I approached.
I absolutely turn Bluetooth off at bedtime.
The car deserves some rest too.

i haven't had this problem with my pixel 7. my phone is currently sitting 10' from my car through one exterior wall and the doors stay locked until go back and get the phone and approach with it.

I've used PAAK with 3 different Android phones and 1 Iphone 15 Pro. While the app will show bluetooth connected from as far as 40 feet away. I can't actually unlock/open the doors unless the phone is within arms length of the car.

The lights will light up when I'm approaching the car and within 10-15 ft, but it won't allow me to unlock the door unless the phone is within arms length.

Are you actually able to unlock the car with your phone 20 feet away?

That’s how it’s supposed to function.

My iPhone 15 goes 30 feet and locks onto the Apple car play not allowing second driver to access it.
