Someone rubbed against my fender and left a significant amount of paint transfer.

I got it off with Goo Gone Automotive, Magic Eraser and lots of elbow grease.

There is now a small spot on the fender that is now dull black instead of shiny black.

Do I just need some clearcoat or do I need black touch-up paint? I can find touch-up for my red paint, but I can't find black glossy fender touch up paint.

If there are no white scratches left from the accidental rub, just get some carnuba wax, and wet an applicator pad. Rub the wax in, and polish it off with a soft microfibre cloth. If there a small scratches that the wax won't polish out, get some more abrasive cut polish, buff it out by hand, wipe off then hit it with wax. Post up some pictures if you can.

Can you feel a ridge with your finger nail from the black to the white?

Your best bet is to take it to local trusted detailer or body shop and ask for help.

There’s nothing magic about magic eraser. It’s abrasive like a fine sandpaper. If you used that with lots of elbow grease, then you likely wore through the clear coat. If that’s the case, wax won’t cut it in the long term. You’ll need a body shop to respray the area.

Magic eraser=Good on white baseboards, and interior doors, bad on shiny black car paint. I would still hit the area with wax and elbow grease, and see how it comes up. Hopefully the eraser didn't burn through the clear.

If there is no texture from feeling it with your fingernail, give the area a cut and polish. You can get sets from Meguir or whatever brand you like. You don't need tools - just microfibre cloth and strong strong fingers to polish/wax that area. Start with the ultra cut compound, then the polish, then the wax. Of course clean the area first before doing this.
