Parked for 4 weeks- What should I do?

My car will be parked in the garage and not driven for 4 weeks. Is there anything special that I should be doing to the car while it is parked?

Should I leave it plugged in? Should I charge it and unplug it? Something else?

Our Mach-E frequently sat for a month or more without issue. I would typically leave it plugged in but a few times it sat at the dealer waiting for things out in their lot not plugged in for a month without issue as well.

I would not over think the situation. If it were me, I would have the car around the 50% to 60% charge level. If you do leave it plugged in, I would set the max charge level to 50% since it would not be ideal to have a fully charged or discharged battery just sitting for a month. I also would not be checking on the car on the app every day as that will just keep waking the car up unnecessarily.

Get the charge level to 50-60%. Plugged in or not shouldn’t matter either way. If it’s plugged in you should be able to increase the charge level on your way home so that it will be charged to where you want it when you get back.

If it’s going to be in the garage I would pop the frunk in case the 12V dies so you can jump it easier.

Or if you have a 12V battery tender/charger you can hook that up to be safe.

There are Mach E’s sitting on dealers lots around here for over a year. I don’t think they worry about giving them any special treatment.

I came back from a 2 week vacation and found that the 12v battery had run down a little. The dealer suggested that I leave the large battery at 50-60% and run a trickle charger/maintainer directly on the 12v battery in the frunk.

I always leave it plugged in and the only issue we had this time was an OTA update that failed while we were away Causing the software update screen not to refresh..
Great advice from forum members to disconnect the -ve battery terminal and reconnect resolved the issue.

I just got back from a 4 week trip.

I left the Mach unplugged with a 60% hvsoc and the 12v was 98% when I disconnected the obd scanner and shut down.

I made sure so have the keys stored far enough away in the house that they wouldn't be detected and shut down the ford app on both my wife's and my phone and never touched it during our trip.

4 weeks later, came home to a fully functioning car with a 67% 12v soc. I had tried the ford app on the way back from the airport (uber) but got a message that the Mach was in sleep mode.

Have to admit, I’d have left HVBSoC at 80%, left it unplugged, parked it, locked it, forgot about it until I got back but if maker says 50% then 50% is what it should be.

Battery management system should care for the 12V battery if it needs any care while you’re away.

The did 12v SOC increase once you started driving again or did you end up getting a new battery shortly after?

Does anyone know if it would it be beneficial to schedule a few “fake” departure times a week while leaving it plugged in? Might that charge the 12V?

Don’t forget the blinker fluid storage additive and to extend the knipflinger joints to 88 degrees. ??

Oh, and fill the trough and place a nice bale of hay on a dry storage area so the pony can have something to eat. ??
