Yep. Hyphens in my email address. A limitation in the email address based on characters that are perfectly legal in an email address is pretty short-sighted on the part of whomever wrote the code. ??

I think you’re wrong....backup start code is setup in the vehicle, and used in the vehicle. I’ve found that deleting Paak doesn’t delete the backup key code.

But setting up a PaaK will push you into the setup backup key code mode on the console.
I can verify that I am not wrong. My car was a brick until I took PTO, got a cab ride home, got my key, and got another cab ride to my office. Back in November there was absolutely no way to enter a back-up start code with my PaaK deleted. Ford still owes me for that round-trip cab ride. ??

You may want to start a new thread as this one is for a specific PAAK issues that a few of us have been having.

In my troubleshooting I have done many resets. When you go into the general screen can you do a master reset or is this what isn't working? Do you have MyKey enabled as this may need to be disabled. In connectivity is Bluetooth turned on?

If you can do a Master Reset then I would:

1. Master Reset
2. Delete the two bluetooth devices on your phone
3. Remove the vehicle from FordPass
4. Delete and reinstall FordPass
5. Add the VIN in FordPass and activate
6. Wait about 30 mins for everything to sync (should be just a minute or two)
7. Setup PAAK

I'm not sure why this functionality even needs the e-mail address but I was pretty happy to see those buttons after a wasted hour with the service manager and I doing exact same steps on the same devices with same software versions and getting consistently opposite results. It took me venting to my wife on the way home to finally realize that this is the only thing that could be wrong.

This evening I spent half an hour on the phone with FordPass to explain the issue so they can fix the problem. Of course half of that time was them trying to troubleshoot rather than letting me explain the bug.

I passed all of this information about the hyphen on to the FordPass agent with whom I have had contact. He sent me an email earlier today to log out, force-quit the app, then re-launch and log back in. That didn't do a thing other than waste a few seconds of time. ??

EDIT: It actually did one more thing. I went back out to my car a little later and could not get my car to recognize my PaaK. The unlock button in the FP app allowed me to enter the car, but the car would not recognize my PaaK. I tried restarting Bluetooth, restarting the phone. No change in behavior. I had to delete the FP app, reinstall it, then create a new PaaK. Annoying. ???

Ok I need help
Just got my car back. Been in the shop for a month. Now the blue tooth and PAAK was not working. I followed the set up instructions. Did not work. Not picking up my phone. However the gps and music worked. I deleted the Ford Pass app and reinstalled it. Now I cannot get it to connect to the car it won’t setup PAAK. I. can’t reset the car without the administrator key or something. Well I have the key. It is not connecting to Bluetooth. Not doing anything. The sync is not finding my phone or vice versa. I got a message on the app that it’s connected but it’s not.
so how do I reset the car? I am unable to even delete my phone it just spins around

what am I doing wrong here?

Once I figured out the issue with the e-mail I went ahead and did a system reset (hopefully my last one) to get a clean slate. Now on to trying out the latest four updates which may be what I need to get initiated into the module bricking club.?

… and just like magic, after changing my Ford email account to one without a hyphen, and deleting and recreating my PAAK, all those extra buttons appeared in FordPass.

That's a pretty weird bug.
