as far as i can tell i have P&C enabled; it shows up as active both in Fordpass and on ford.com.

i went to an Electrify America DCFC today, plugged in the car, and the station said it was negotiating with the car. instead of enabling a charge, it gave me the screen to either pay with a CC or to use my EA account/plan. so apparently P&C is not working.

i tried calling the 800 number on the charger but it just hung up on me. i tried the 2nd CCS handle on the charger and still no dice. the other chargers were all in use, so i was not able to find out if it was just this station that wasn't working, or the car, or some other problem.

if i want to use my plug & charge credits, is there any other way to use them? is there any way to have ford or EA look into the problem?

anyway, just to try it out, i used my CC to pay and started a session. the good news is this was a 150KW station and the charge started at about 120KW. my SOC was 38% and i used the internal navigation to drive to the charger, so perhaps there was some preconditioning. i quit around 48% and at that point the car was pulling 100KW. there was someone in a polestar waiting and the cost is like 2x home charging, so i bailed.

Activate the station via FordPass before plugging in to use your free EA kWh provided by Ford. (On the Home screen tap the 'View Chargers' button. Find the charging location and specific dispenser you are using, swipe to activate.)

After those credits have been used up then sign up for the monthly EA membership and activate the station via the EA app (or tap) to get the best membership per kWh or per minute prices.

where is that in the FP app? i went into Vehicle > Blue Oval Charge Network and didn't see anything new there. or do i need to go into the map and tap on the charger? i guess that's probably it (click select? yeah that looks like it.)

btw is it expected that P&C is just flaky like this? just wondering if there might be anything wrong on the car end that need service.

Did you just recently enroll in Plug & Charge? It may take a few days to work through the system before it works automatically.

Although activating the EA unit from FordPass is a workaround, you *should* be able to just start by plugging in the handle and the car transmits its VIN to EA to recognize your credits with Ford.
I've never used FordPass to activate Plug & Charge at EA

no, i think i enrolled shortly after i took delivery of the car (late december '22). even if i did it in january it's been months since i activated.

when i go to ford.com to see the P&C under connected services, it does show as active, though there is no expiration date shown (--/--/--). also the website does throw some kind of an error as it puts up a dialog box saying something went wrong.

Same, I do not have a trial expiration date for Blue Oval Charge Network. I think they still may be working out how a subscription might work, so they relaxed the expiration date until they do.

Weird, it used to show an expiration date when clicking Manage, mine was in 2024 so I think it’s 2 years after activation. However, it’s not there now.

I took a longer trip this past Friday and stopped at 2 separate EA stations, I was able to plug and charge without issues so you should definitely aim for being able to do that.

i'll probably have the chance to try a different charger this weekend so i'll see if P&C works then.

welp, P&C didn't work at one of the newer EA stations, so i guess it doesn't work. good news is that i was able to activate the charger from fordpass and charge for free.

i guess there is the remote possibility that now that i've charged thru FP that next time P&C will work.

not sure how to proceed here since the process is so opaque. would be nice to have it working.

i also learned that you can't have two navigation programs running concurrently. starting a carplay route cancels the ford navigation and vice versa. this makes sense, but since the ford navigation is kind of questionable, i wanted to follow apple's directions but have the car's navigation going so that the battery would precondition. unfortunately the ford nav had me going all over the place on small roads, and backtracking on my way to the EA station.

well, P&C didn't work at a 3rd EA station, so i guess it doesn't work.

had a little trouble activating the station; the FP app said the charger was in use and so could not select it to activate. killed the FP app and upon going back into the charger location page it was then available to select.

also had an interesting experience with another EA charger earlier in the day. it doesn't appear in the EA app but is in the MME's internal navigation map. wouldn't even get to the point where it would allow me to pay for a charge, instead hanging on "connecting to vehicle" on the station screen, and i got a notification from FP that a charging error had occurred. at first i thought maybe this station was new and unprovisioned but it's been in PlugShare for more than a year with a lot of people reporting problems. some people saying they charged for free, others that the cable needs to be propped up or the charger and car won't communicate. i guess this kind of stuff is par for the course with EA.

the EA charger that i tried the other day also did something weird - i never got a receipt by email and my FP charging balance did not decrement. in contrast i got an email almost immediately at the station that worked for me today. more bugs i guess, but looks like i got a little free juice.

I am able to plug & charge flawlessly. This was set up with our Ford dealership when we took possession of the MME. The Ford dealer should not be needed, but if you are on good terms with them, I recommend setting an appointment so someone can help set up P & C again. Another option is to call Ford for account help. I've received helpful service that way.

maybe i will call in. P&C is activated on my account as far as i can tell.

of course there is some problem with the TCU in my car, or at least the dealer thought there was a problem because i could not set up PAAK on the day i took delivery. i eventually resolved that on my own which makes me think there's actually nothing wrong with the TCU, but who knows. i don't even know if the TCU is involved with P&C. all other connected services in the car seem to work fine and integration with FordPass works fine as well.

what would be interesting is if i could enable autocharge+ on EVgo and see if that works, but for whatever reason the EVgo app won't offer me the setup screen for autocharge+.
