I wish the pony puddle lights would work without the mirrors being folded. I can only imagine how fast the mirror motors will wear out if they open and close every time I get in and out of the car.

I never had an issue over nine years of folding mirrors on my F150 before trading in for my MME.

But I have a question on the puddle lights. I have also noticed they only light when the mirrors are folded. However they don’t always light up when I approach the car. I use PaaK. Is there a trick to it or is it just a communication thing between my phone and car

You can use FORScan to change it so the mirrors only open when you turn the car on.

I know what FORESkin is but I don't know what FORScan is.

I don't want my mirrors to fold, but I do want the puddle lights to come on. I think it's impossible because the pony would be turned sideways and project on the car door.

When I switched from PaaK to carrying the fob, the puddles lights started working 100% of the time.

Nine years is pretty long, but most appliances, electronics, motors and mechanical things seem to break right at ten years or sooner. I have a tendency to keep vehicles practically forever, and I would like to go my entire life without having a $2500 mirror repair.

You won’t like modern cars then. Headlights are over $1k to replace. Stick to older cars. This is the reality.

Actually when the mirror unfolds to the normal position, the pony projects out to around a 30˚ angle from the door.

Think you may be worrying about something that will never happen.

I’ve done 118,000 miles and around 3 times a week the mirrors folded & unfolded around 20 times per day with no problem plus another 30 times per week on non work days.

Anyways, if I left them unfolded this wouldn’t be so effective…………..

Cool! I thought the pony light turned off when the mirror opened. Is that another FORScan trick?

Look up EV-Vida. Their products are great and instructional videos are OK.
I thought the dynamic pony was pretty neat. But not for $375, yikes! I'll pass and wait for a sudden windfall from somewhere.
