Like many on this forum, on most occasions I'm missing the icon on the SYNC screen that indicates vehicle connectivity. At that time the Vehicle Connectivity will also refuse to show any contents. I've found this often inconvenient when debugging issues. Most recently I saw threads that the 5.1.1 messed with people's connectivity settings, and they are unable to fix them because the connectivity icon and menu are missing.

What I found is that if I use my app to send a remote command to the car before getting in it (like remote start), the icon and the Connectivity menu will consistently be there after I start the car.

Could someone confirm if this works for others?

I purchased my car in August and it communicated fine for the first two weeks. Everything worked: Alexa, remote start, connected services, etc. Ever since then, once every couple of trips, it'll wake up and talk for a little while before deciding to not work again.

When it isn't working Wi-Fi is broken and won't refresh and the Connected Vehicle Features menu can't be expanded. Also, the Bezel diagnostics don't show any information on the modem when it isn't working, instead the cellular says disconnected and all other items show waiting on diagnostics or similar. Also: remote start, lock, unlock and vehicle status in the Ford Pass app all fail.

Pulling fuses worked to bring things back at first, but now that doesn't even work.

If 6.2.0 really fixes this, I hope my car can stay online long enough to download it.

I scheduled an appointment with the dealership last month... they won't be able to look at it until the end of November. And even then, I don't have a lot of faith that they'll be able to figure out what's going on.

This seems like a separate issue with the modem going offline so it's good you are getting it looked at.

For me (and many others who seem to be having the original issue), connectivity still works fine: I can send remote commands to the car, car modem still shows provisioned, internet in the car (through the modem still works). The only thing sign that something is off is the icon is missing and the connectivity menu doesn't have any contents. I think the latter is addressed in 6.2.0.

Recently got 5.1.1, noted the connectivity bug (visual or otherwise). Tried your method and have consistently seen the icon the last few times. Otherwise 2-3 Sync resets would do it.

Just noticed this today but it could have been a problem for a while. I got 5.1.1 on October 2, and 6.1.0 on October 14. I'll try the workaround . I wonder if this is why BC wasn't available where I usually see it.

If we have to wait for 6.2.0, I wonder when they will started sending it to 2021 Job 1 cars (which are supposedly limited to 6.1.0 for now).

UPDATE: I tried this and can confirm it worked for me. Thanks!

Thanks for this. Your workaround worked for me.

I was wondering why my connectivity menu was missing. When I hit the button it looks like this-

When I remote unlock I got this-

I wonder if this has anything to do with me getting no updates since August 7.

Here is my last update-

Can confirm that this is only a one time use fix.

Next time I got in the car the menu is missing.

Tried this again a few times today.

I can’t get the connectivity menu to show back up.

Tried unlocking via FordPass, remote start. Tried starting car normally then locking via FordPass. Tried using PAAK only (usually I have fob in my pocket as well).

Nothing seems to work.

Also curious if other people with this issue have gotten OTA updates recently. My last one was August 7. Wondering if it’s related.

Lately I, too, found this method to be less reliable . It used to work 80% of the time but now it's more like 30%.

My last update was Oct 17; 6.1.0 (Premium 2023 )
