Yup. And nothing since? Not even a hint?
The SSM @Neil4Real referenced is official... Not just a chief engineer talking to a schmuck who likes to tear things apart.

Another official memo about this, from our buddies on the big island (not your big island, the one with the Tubes). Not saying it's gonna happen as planned or that we have to wait for Power-Up 2.8.3, but this is written guidance from a Ford official nonetheless:

Electric Opening of Front Luggage Compartment via SYNC 4A, FordPass & Key Fob

• The software update containing the activation of the Front Trunk e-Latch is currently planned for deployment in Europe from mid-July onwards.

• This is planned to be delivered via Ford Power-Up 2.8.3 and should provide the functionality to unlock the front trunk within SYNC 4A without the need to use the lever in the front passenger footwell.

But you weren’t talking about when it would come out… you asked if there was anything official from Ford just saying that they are giving it to Job 1 cars. Whether they follow through, is a different discuss altogether. But it’s been pretty officially said they planned to.
Past tense.

I’ve seen this before, and it specifically is in regards to the EU. North America isn’t mentioned. We also know they’ve said they’ll improve the DCFC charging curve on a PowerUp that was already delivered to job 1 cars in NA. That implies there’s a different track outside NA.

It’s been well over a year since deliveries started. Even I’m pushing up on a year since my car finished its 14 week transit. During that time, we’ve gotten calm screen? Games don’t count. I’m satisfied with the vehicle as is right now. I’ll be surprised if anything significant comes my way before next winter.

Lol ok, to argue for arguments sake. Just eat a hat when it comes out and I don’t care.

Actually, that’s the first I’ve seen of a mention of a release date for electronic frunk release ?
And I was just rereading my windshield/pano recall letter. It explicitly states that they will do a software update during the recall to improve charge times ?

It is and it will. It’ll happen slower than many people’s revised expectations and some may be discouraged by, or angry with, that. But it will get released. I don’t have a pony in this race as I’ll never get BlueCruise (zero eligible roads), so I’m going to just say, “Can we get the darn remote/electronic Frunk release already?”

I think it’ll be more than that but not enough to call it “widespread” (whatever that means) by the end of the month. I’m positive the reason is that they’re devoting massive resources to pushing the electronic Frunk release simultaneously with BC.
I think Ford should make a special effort to enable one road for BlueCruise on whatever island it is you live on, just for you ?

Yes, but the date is in reference to the EU. As for the software update in the roof recall, that’s 21P22. The charging curve is being made available to the EU through a PowerUp. One that apparently has a reference number identical to an already received North American update that most definitely did not change the charging power curve.

All of which leads me to believe that the EU is on a different update scenario than NA. Therefore, I personally discount any timeframe for a Frunk update in NA and will do so until either the Frunk update comes out or there’s an updated communique from Dearborn.

It’s been over a year. Ford has either moved on from job 1 vehicles and new to us features or they’re overworked. Either one doesn’t bode well imo. I’ve been known to be wrong though.

Me, updating to 2.4.5 a hour after @Austin, and staying quietly off the radar…?
Since my car is a Ford management lease, Ford can “have their way with me.” for better or worse. (as they did for almost 30 years before I retired some years ago). Any updates I get could be early for evaluation by the engineering team and might not be indicative of the timing and actual updates for those on the escalator.

It might be better if I monitor from the sidelines and wish everyone well.

BTW, I still don’t have a frunk button.

Hey, I’m planning on using that letter to gently “nudge” the service department into doing all the updates that are available in FDRS since it doesn’t call out 21P22 or anything else specifically. It just says “update” ?
I agree about Europe being on a different update schedule but I’m pretty sure Dearborn hasn’t totally forsaken Job 1 cars for electronic Frunk release. That would be silly, particularly if they’re rolling it to Europe. It should be pretty much the same code.

Is your car also part of the management program, or is it just an early access car?

Ok, you need to get on the phone to your former colleagues in the Glass House and tell them to get their priorities straight. We need a working frunk button and we need it NOW ?????????
