BC 1st quarter 2022. If not mistaken March is last month of 1st quarter. Any one want to bet on BC before end of month?
Definitely not a wide rollout at this point

We’ll be lucky if the Early Access VIP - Platinum Club Level members get it by the end of the month.

At least its happening though!

As I said, there'll be 1-2 people, and lost likely, they'll be hand-done, either at a dealership via FDRS, or via Ford engineers with some kind of magic equipment. I seriously doubt that wide-spread BlueCruise OTA is happening to all Job 1 cars prior to 31 March 2022.

What are job1 cars?

It is and it will. It’ll happen slower than many people’s revised expectations and some may be discouraged by, or angry with, that. But it will get released. I don’t have a pony in this race as I’ll never get BlueCruise (zero eligible roads), so I’m going to just say, ā€œCan we get the darn remote/electronic Frunk release already?ā€

I think it’ll be more than that but not enough to call it ā€œwidespreadā€ (whatever that means) by the end of the month. I’m positive the reason is that they’re devoting massive resources to pushing the electronic Frunk release simultaneously with BC.

I can completely understand how Blue Cruise would be a complicated several step almost surgical update, but how can the frunk be that hard? There have already been updates out there that have the button showing up in the app or on the screen. We just need the update for whatever module controls that latch.

The ā€œjustā€ part is probably where the rub is. Nothing is ever as simple as it looks or seems. Honestly as well, I’m no longer sure Ford ever promised they’d upgrade the cars without the remote release. We all think that but, did they actually say it? In writing and in an official communique? If so, is it still in the works? The cars are a year old now. Not much has been upgraded or improved and, thanks to lacking patch notes, we have no idea if any bugs that matter to the end user have actually been fixed. Beyond BlueCruise, which I’m positive will be rolled out, we might be in a ā€œwhat you bought is what you’re going to haveā€ mode. But I’m a notorious pessimist, so take that with a very small grain of salt.

One other thing about the Frunk release. Many cars have the ā€œbuttonā€ on the sync screen. Some have it on their FordPass. Others, such as myself, have neither and yet have the exact same PowerUps as those that do have them. That may be a big part of the problem.

They did actually. Donna Dickson, Chief Engineer of the Mach-E said it in a video with Sandy Munro.

Not trying to over do it, but there was this SSM too.
SSM 50213 - 2021 Mustang Mach-E - FordPass App Frunk Button - Failure To Open Message

Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles that have had a body control module (BCM) update may show the Frunk button on their FordPass app. This button is not currently supported and using it will result in a Failure To Open message. Ford is working on an update to the software to activate this button that is expected via over the air (OTA) in late December of 2021. The software will update automaticallyif Vehicle Connectivity is turned ON. Inform the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle. Contact the customer in January of 2022 to determine if they received the update. If the customer needs assistance, schedule a follow-upappointment. Monitor OASIS for updates.

Not good enough. It needs to be an official communication that hasn’t been backtracked. Conversations, tweets and the like are regularly walked back or ignored, and not just by Ford. But we won’t mention the King of stupid ass ignored promises, Elon, by name will we?

Yup. And nothing since? Not even a hint? And multiple different versions of implementation on cars with the same update. I’m not going to hold my breath over this one, even though it’s an update I’d genuinely like to receive.

The bulletin is pretty official… I’m fairly certain it would probably come with BlueCruise.

BlueCruise has missed two or three (I’ve honestly lost count) promised deadlines already. The fact that Ford hasn’t said a word about an updated timeline regarding the Frunk release on Job 1 cars means:

1. They’ve learned their lesson from BlueCruise and aren’t going to say when anything will be delivered ever again. Or if.

2. It’s been relegated to the ā€œa round toitā€ pile of work to do.

Also keep in mind the February timeframe for a fix for the 1.7.1 failure to deliver was in a message to dealers. That’s passed as well. As did the 12/31 timeframe for the frunk update.

I’ve simply come to expect that what I see in my car right now is as good as it’s ever going to be. I’m ok (enough) worth that.

But you weren’t talking about when it would come out… you asked if there was anything official from Ford just saying that they are giving it to Job 1 cars. Whether they follow through, is a different discuss altogether. But it’s been pretty officially said they planned to.
