Job 1 cars don’t have a remote frunk release.
And even when Jim buys a Gen2 Mach-E his frunk button will be locked out due to the hard-coding on Ford’s servers that inhibits any electrical actuation of a frunk release in a car on his account. ??

Yeah, it’s been there since 4.2.1. All your feedback goes into the Ford black hole with no reply:

You could have a long rambling dissertation during charging sessions. “I’ll shut up as soon as my car hits 80%” might get us a faster charge curve.

@Jimrpa could leave a daily frunk message...
I'm going to do that now

I think it would be a better idea to actually fix a few of the 2 year old bugs before adding more features. But that’s just me.
But also some of those "bugs" may not be actual bugs like people think. I have not had any of the issues others have had with PAAK or CarPlay ect. Bug have to be reproducible over and over on every configuration to be a bug. Otherwise it can be an issue with something else in the environment. SYNC has been pretty stable for me.

Not to mention with every new feature, there are usually resolutions or known issues.

Ford has yet to fix a single day 1 bug or issue. Not 1. And let’s not even bring up the lack of delivery on promised improvements or features.

The motion sensor does not stay off when selected to off at car shutdown. This has been true since the first car was delivered. Wonder why there hasn’t been a pet mode delivered to the car yet?

The radio/Xm presets can wipe themselves when the profiles don’t properly load. Again a day 1 issue. It’s why every station on all 3 preset bars are on Hawaii Public Radio 1 in my car. Every station. Good thing that’s what I listen to in the afternoons.. ;)

Profiles haven’t worked properly since day 1. It’s affected everyone at one time or another. This is nothing new as well.

There are more but the reality is Ford has yet to fix a day 1 bug. It’s been two years. The cars continue to diverge from a common platform, not converging. There are probably well beyond 5,000 different software loads on the MMEs from the first job 1 to the latest rolled out of the plant today. That’s asking for trouble.

My MME is in advanced analytics and no one can figure out some of the bizzare things it does. And frankly, my car works pretty darn well. We haven’t even mentioned the torturous relationship between sync 4a, the car’s OS and Apple’s CarPlay.

Wonder, as of today, why I have a black AND white screen....great, new glitches. Hoping it will right itself…tomorrow I will check it out.….other than the finicky confused seat adjustment per driver, I have had no problems whatsoever.Wahhhhh!

That’s not accurate, they’ve definitely fixed bugs. The most common/known bugs is probably more fitting.

On the latest updates, CarPlay is essentially perfect, that’s 100000% fixed.

There's a definite bug in your bug definition.

An intermittent bug is still a bug - it's just harder to diagnose.

Ford has fixed bugs —just not the customer facing bugs that came with the car during the first deliveries and which persist to this day.

Despite the hyperbole and declarations of victory by some, CarPlay is not perfect, not even close. It wasn’t perfect before the 4.2.x series of updates and still isn’t afterwards.

None of the launch day customer facing bugs has been fixed — none. The motion sensor bug affects every single car, whether or not you know it. Two years is more than enough time to address these issues that were apparent by the end of January 2021. Ford has chosen not to address them or isn’t capable of addressing them. The only other option is that they’re somehow unaware. None of those three options shine a favorable light on Ford’s software capabilities.

The design of this car was basically pretty darn good with a couple of rather notable exceptions. The issue and Achilles heel was and is software. It’s not getting better, it’s just changing icons.

Please don't mention improved features or they may spend all year giving us subscription bloatware and games that are already on our phones and will not fix remote starting (preconditioning) an ev when cold.

Over time it may get confused. The inconsistency some days may drive you nuts or make you smile. 3.6.1 here. Bummer no preconditioning fix to date in the 4's.

On the Frunk button thing for '21J1...here's the part I don't understand....

It would have been SO easy to fix.

Search all the '21J1 asbuilts and update the one segment that adds the frunk softbutton to Sync. This is a server update. They can do it from their end.....just like they corrected the BCM data for the TPMS system on the new Lightnings they sent out with the wrong tire low pressure warning threshold.

Then push an OTA for the BCM and GFM updates as a technical update just for those cars. Unless there's something else I'm not aware of that should update this issue for everybody who has it.

The only thing I can think of that's keeping them from doing this is that they aren't confident that either a BCM or GFM update will actually work OTA. Why else would they put a procedure into FDRS specifically for the techs to enable that softbutton on the Sync screen?
Ford Mustang Mach-E Power-Up 4.2.4 software version released Frunk_Button_Enabl

If doing this by OTA isn't an option then @Ford Motor Company ought to identify those '21J1 vehicles in the asbuilt database that specifically still do not have the Sync frunk softbutton enabled and send the owners a notification letter of a Customer Satisfaction Program that will enable them to get the BCM/GFM updated and the frunk Sync screen softbutton enabled by a tech at Ford's cost.

I think if they put one...maybe two interns on this they could have it done by this time next week (if you can get them off their phones).

Maybe they're worried it will possibly pop the frunk during an OTA install? That's the only on I can come up with.

Totally agree Mike. I think they are very nervous about bricking the BCM with an OTA because there could be no recovery from a bad flash. BCM would have to be replaced so that would be a massive fail. OK fine, so then they should do a dealer update CSP instead. But upper-level management falsely believes the frunk button was enabled on all Mach-E's already, so they won't pay for it. Something like that.

Then there's FordPass. They should just enable the frunk button on all Mach-E's already. A server change shouldn't be hard. If the button in FordPass doesn't work, then you go to the dealer and get the update for it.
