I really appreciate the info and the help. Sadly, I'm pretty ignorant to this specifically. Is there an existing T wire (i.e. something like the dongar) or are you suggesting creating one via splicing something? I did find this image of what appears to be the location in question.

There is no existing T wire that I know of. I would make one. Alternatively you can just tap into the wire. ?‍♂?

Mirror power is switched, not intermittent. It powers down with all of the other accessories, approximately 15 minutes after the car is switched off. ??

I installed a Viofo A119 running off the Donger. When I start the car it announces recording started. and the red dot on the screen begins blinking. When I stop at a light for a few minutes the red recording dot will stop blinking after about a minute. When I began to move after the light changes, I again receive the recording announcement and the red dot begins to blink indicating it has begun recording. This issue is discussed on the other not to be mentioned here forum

I have to ask. Why two cameras that both require power vs a 2 channel camera?

Something is wrong, it should not do that. I have the same setup as you. Does it work fine without the Dongar?

This doesn’t necessarily mean that the power to the mirror is intermittent. According to the wiring diagram, the mirror power is a simple switched circuit. ?‍♂?

Are you using the same dash cam? If so is there a setting in the unit that I am not seeing?
Yes. My guess is there is something wrong with the dashcam. Try updating the firmware first. Make sure you select the correct model. I think the A119 started to have voice on the A119 Mini or Mini 2. I have A119, A119S, A119v3, A119 Mini 2. Lol.

I cannot understand how my setup is incorrect. The Donger only T's in one way. You can't plug it in wrong. Is it because my car is a 21 job 1 and something later changed? Like I mentioned it is posted elsewhere that I am forbidden to link to that this is not a constant power

Mine is the mini 2. Will look into your suggestion about the firmware update

Let's troubleshoot it. Plug it to a regular USB instead of the Dongar. Use the one that came with the dashcam. Does it record and stay on continuously?

I was trying to take advantage of the Garmin wireless sync and figured if I could find a convenient way to power the rear, then I wouldn't need to run a wire from the back to the front.

I'm starting to possibly consider a 2ch. While the fitcamx may be the easiest option, I will still likely not go for it because I didn't love the capture quality.

I actually have a slim adapter already and mine appears to stick out even less. I might even be able to close the cover with the cable plugged in, or a lot closer to it. Still not sure if I love that option, but thanks for the image and its worth consideration.

Running the rear camera cleanly from front to back is pretty easy. 30 minutes max.
I ran the wire along the roof cover and tucked it behind the A pilar with a trim tool. From there I removed the weather stripping on the door and tucked it under neat the roof cover along the driver and passenger door. Then tucked it behind the C pilar and so far and so forth.

I think I posted a video here somewhere. I can try to find it.

One more thing. I wanted a GPS capable camera. Fitcamx doesn’t have that. I’m using a 70mai right now.
