PowerUp 6.8.0 released

Not sure why this would surprise you. It only alerts you if you’re wandering out of your lane and doesn’t alert you when your signal light is used when changing lanes. People who say they don’t like this feature are likely the ones who need it the most.

I just find it more of an annoyance and not reliable enough to be useful. But maybe the lanes are tighter over here on the East Coast

I'm a Lightning Owner and got our version of 6.8 last night. It shows a truck with a blue square above it and then another car above that if it detects a car. Hated it until I realized it had reset my screen into Driver Assistant mode. If you don't know we can toggle through different displays in the center (Navigation next turn, tire pressure, This Trip, etc.). Our speedo has always been on the right.

So MAYBE, this is setting you up to have variable info in the center area like we do. I realize we have more pixels but you still have plenty of screen real estate.

I would fully love that. The climate use screen in my FFE is the best thing it's ever had. And it's just a dumb battery % with current Acc and climate use in kW. I know instantly if the AC crapped out for that drive cycle.

NO! Please educate yourself regarding the issue. This is PERMANTLY this way after 6.8.0.

Nothing in software is permanent when there is active development going on and it's still in it's lifecycle.

It sucks and ruins the best experience of the car.

Wow. I had no idea this update:

• eliminates the great acceleration off the line
• eliminates all the great storage capacity
• immediately makes the frunk unuseable
• eliminates all the great software and features through the Sync 4A screen
• makes me have to buy gas again instead of charging at home

I realize we have dedicated buttons on the steering wheel for this. And it would probably be unsafe for you to change the view by looking over to the center screen and tapping there. But it could show popups for navigation, BLIS, current music, etc. Tesla proved you don't always need physical buttons.

I also really like how it looks more 3D than ours, but that would be awesome if that’s what they’re setting us up for. I’d love to display music, or even have a mini Apple Maps. I mean they could also definitely just throw the display controls in the main display. It wouldn’t be as convenient as having them on the steering wheel, but not like we have any other choice there. Thinking about it now, that kind of explains why we probably don’t have as much customization - essentially just figuring out the best way to integrate that customization without the steering wheel controls the lightning has while still making it convenient to switch views for the driver.

Correct. But you forgot that it causes tunnel vision that only allows you to only view the center of the screen above the steering wheel.

Also installed today but have not taken a spin yet - not too happy about the animations missing. I've had lane keep etc on since Day 2, but I did like the Unbridle animations.

I had a Lightning as a loaner this past week and really got used to the layout and graphic treatment in the IPC. I liked that the centre of the screen was "customisable" to a degree. It's a bit odd, to me at least, that there is not a certain amount of commonality with the IPC graphics between the MME and Lightning. I was a bit surprised at just how different it was.

The Lightning and Mach-E teams should play a bit more golf together....or Fortnight or whatever the kids do these days for fun

Off topic, but I just realized you're the guy maintaining the github for the Mach-E OTA history. I pulled all the info from the OTA wiki page before it was taken down. I have an Excel sheet with all the 1.x.x and 2.x.x OTA's that were sent to the early built Mach E's. The info is mixed up with the 2021 F150 OTA's somewhat, but if you want the data to add it to the github, lmk.

This update with the speedometer drives me nuts, but my wife didn’t notice since she always has lane centering on. I predixt that they are standardizing the layout before adding some cool new features. If they are going to add the ability to change the center graphic (car, music, tire pressure, maps, etc) like on many car dashboard layouts, this would be the first step.

i mean, a guy can hope, right?

I don't see an issue here. Everyone knows the speedo is irrelevant unless you are entering pit lane...then it matters. Otherwise just keep your eye on the tach

If you drive in dense cities often, it can get pretty ding-dang annoying, because there are lines everywhere that people general are expected specifically to not follow, just want to play devil's advocate there. But, on the whole I do agree with your pov.
